Hurricane Florence
Hope she turns but for you folks on the east coast, good luck. Seems to be targeting N.C but S.C. and VA are all going to see impacts.

Nastiness approaches. Let's hope we don't see a repeat of Houston from last year.

Two more storms warming up in the bullpen. Could be a nasty month.

^ And the worst part is the forecast shows it could make landfall and then stall, kind of like Harvey did... No bueno!

Firstly and most important, I hope everyone in the path is safe.
Second, FML. Nothing like a hurricane when you work in supply chain. Someone shoot me now. |

My car is on a ship currently on its way in the Atlantic. Of course at this time there are record hurricanes in the Atlantic. Yay!

Hoping for the best for you all. Stay safe!
Living in Canada we only see the devastation on TV. One of the reasons my parents are having second thoughts about being snowbirds in Florida.

Well, snowbirds implies being here in the winter and leaving for the summer. There are no hurricanes in the winter. So they should be safe if that's what they are thinking of doing.

No doubt, those living near the coast or other flood-prone areas need to relocate. I really hope people do so and be safe.

I really hope people take this seriously and evacuate. This looks really bad. Be safe, your life is more important than your possessions.

You are correct about property damage and storms are but one source of potential casualty losses, along with roof, pipe and a/c leaks, burglaries, fires, etc.. Insurance is expensive but necessary. Closer to the coast = greater risk and higher cost. My wife and I put a deposit on a condo in western NC and plan to spend most of our summers there beginning next year. Im not worried about leaving our primary residence unattended. We have impact glass, live inland and have insurance.
