I tried to listen to his "songs" last night when I heard since I didn't know who he was. I got to about 6 seconds of his most popular song and couldn't take it any more. This is just another case of keepin it real goes wrong.

Dating myself but the only Nipsey I ever heard of till today was Nipsey Russell. A comedian, US WWII Veteran and a class act.
Don't know anything about this Nipsey rapper dude. Said on the news he had legit businesses, and was good to his local community. Sounds like he might have made some enemies with gangs in his area and cost him his life. Sad.

Your analogy would makes sense if he was from somewhere else and CHOSE to move to/grow up/hang out in Crenshaw, where the youngest are indoctrinated and grow up only ever knowing violence and beef.

Nipsey came from one of the most troubled areas in the country, and made something positive of himself and more importantly, of others. He is a symbol of change, and pulling those who are lost, out of the cycle of doom.

This is why it stings. If he was gang-banging, people would react differently.
He was trying to affect change.

If you undertsood this, you would understand how simplistic and short-sighted (to be poilte) your comment is.

But I must say, I expected a lot more of your mindset in this thread. I held my breath opening it. And I am relieved that there isn't as much ignorance as I expected.

Just wanted to post the interview to show that he wasn't your typical "bling bling rapper", we gave the community a positive message and put his money where his mouth is regarding trying to build up his community, particularly Inglewood.

I got your point. And my point is he was a gangster, you never leave that life. You might think you have and your followers might think you have but the gangsters don't see it that way. Honestly, how many rappers have ties to the gangs and how many in the rapper life like to travel in the rapper bad boy scene, they portray themselves as gangsters, their videos support that as does their music.
