Alfa Giulia in red. Two weeks ago in the same area an officer driving on the opposite side of the road flashed their flood lights at me while going 35 in a 35 downtown street. Maybe the car always looks like I'm going faster than it is, I don't know how else to explain it.

Red, no?

That's what the old wives tale would suggest, but I can count on one hand the number of red cars I've pulled over in 10+ years (…the last being a red 992 GT3 I pulled over on 10/23/21 just so I could talk cars).

On a 35mph straightaway they proceeded to drive directly next to me then even a few mph above the speed limit before braking hard and turning around in the middle of the road.

What was the story here? If I broke a law I would have gotten lit up, but clearly this officer wanted to follow me for a bit, maybe run my plates, see if my registration was expired, look for tints (which I don't have), look inside the car, etc.??

Bizarre and disturbing situation. I feel like my car has been a cop magnet ever since I got it last June, especially since the new year. I used to drive far more aggressively with my prior black cars without issue. Now I'm constantly shitting bricks even at 5mph over. Really not enjoying driving anymore and losing the desire to own a true performance car since they clearly can't even be enjoyed.
1 am might have been the issue.
When I worked nights at the airport my lunch was at 2 am, since I lived close by I would drive home to eat sometimes. I drove a white C5 Corvette at the time and got pulled over for various things like no front plate, speeding, not stopping completely for right turns on red. The only thing as common as not being ticketed only warned was being asked "where have you been tonight?"

It was a drunk check.

Night of the Superbowl, that too in the same metropolis the game was played. You're probably right.

Are you referring to the Azusa P.D. shooting? Thankfully no, I wasn't involved.

It's like WW3 down here in Nola right now. The car jackings and robberies are out of control. I've got a weapons instructor who is going to teach me to shoot but I want something in the meantime. The cops won't even show up to car break ins anymore. File a report online.

I would spend the money and buy the Taser brand option for civilians. It's similar to what we use, except it's not limited to a 5-second ride per trigger pull.

In the mean time, go and pick up a few cans of bear spray at your nearest sporting goods shop. One can never have enough bear spray.....

Can you educate me on the ramifications of using the tazer in a situation you feel threatened in ? I know that not using it could be worse.

I’m in NY so it may vary.

Also carrying one concealed is that an issue as it is a weapon is a permit required ? Can you buy dummy rounds to practice. Not sure how far they shook and what the drop per foot would be on this. Ideally I’d like not to be to close to use it.

I’d also be concerned that an officer may see this and think it’s a handgun and start a situation.

Sorry for the rapid fire questions.

I was recently denied a permit CCW as not a needed circumstance. My place was broken into while I was there and I was behind a locked door as a druggie with a knife was pounding I just want cash. Called police and he fled before police arrived. I had camera footage but they did not catch him. Really not sure how hard they tied bc I had footage from a neighbor that they never came to take.

This rise in crime is nuts. I have also been thinking about personal safety. I got used to having an armed SO by my side. Although we split a while ago, I now think about it. Car jackings are out of control and I imagine an old lady in a high performance vehicle is a perfect target. I am very aware of my surroundings and am vigilant but what if? I should look into the legality of tasers here. In the mean time, any issues keeping pepper, bear, or wasp spray in my center console due to temps if it gets too hot?

Articulation is everything. There's no permit required to own the taser and if you needed to use it, just be able to articulate why you used it.

Keep your car doors locked. You'd be surprised how many people drive around with unlocked doors. Secondly, keep bear spray and a knife with you.
