Monster. Confirmed with awd and extra power boost to 577hp. AMG has it right. Great car. M5 in trouble?

The M5 is a real disappointment. Is was usually to most powerfull in class. Now it is no more, worst thing, it is heaviest in class. Now there is a new most powerful wagon in the world: 585 PS, it beats the previous RS6.

Mercedes E 63 AMG 4-Matic Performance
0-100 km/h in 3.6 sec!!!!!!

That is even faster than new RS6 and Panamera Turbo S. Also, front/rear power distribution is 33/67.

Such a shame M5 is no more KING, it even doesn't sound good.

Not taking away from the M5, BUT I keep looking at the video and I'm just so impressed with this package. AMG just set the bar. 2014 E63 is the new bench mark.

I can see a X-Drive version M5 in the near future even BMW keeps denying that.

Why is BMW this far behind in the game? Carbon brakes are taking forever to be released while the competition has had this option for years. Twin turbo V8 is only new to the M5 but has been under the hood of competing German cars for some time. Case in point. Is BMW afraid to take risks? Or are they just letting others do the experiment so BMW can analyze if those moves deem profitable for them?

Mercedes has really stepped up their game in the performance department. They are still the luxurious beauties (imo) that they always have been... but now they have the power and performance to couple with that luxury.

As for this new E63... those numbers are really impressive! And I actually like the front. Looks more CLS to me, and I've loved the CLS from day one. (also if im not mistaken, the E and the CLS share a chasis?). Good looking cars!

I will admit, having driven the 2012 E550 and the 2013 SL550 (parents), they are still the 'muscle car' of the German world - I prefer the handling and steering of my 335is anyday, everyday and trust my BMW in the canyons and on a track much more - but the 'base' models have CRAZY power, I can't even imagine what it would be like to drive an AMG performance model (I've only ever been a passenger in a C63 sedan, and it was like being in a rollercoaster!)

I actually just had my dads car for the day (new SL550) and I pulled a CLEAN 4.7 0-60mph and the car just wanted to keep going - TT V8 with 516lb/ft of torque...... Traction was off, and it wouldn't slip on me unless I pushed it. Handling was still a bit shaky compared to my BMW, and I wouldn't take turns too quickly out of fear of the car biting my head off!

A lot of time/money/resources/talent are being dedicated to the i3 and i8. People don't realize how much is riding on those cars, they have a lot invested.

+1
I'm interested to see the final product of the i series, how it will influence the entire BMW line and how it will fit in this ever changing auto market.

News is that the CLS63 also now comes with the 4matic option and 585hp. Just found my wife's new car.

Regardless I'm still a huge F10 M5 fan!

Holy s*&t, nice! I like the new looks from the E. Cleaned up that chintzy chrome crap they were over using and too many grill lines. I want to see how it stacks up overall with the F10 M5. Should be a good match!

Knowing MB we shouldn't have to wait very long for a M5 show down
Regardless of the outcome, we all win by getting better and better cars offered to us from this fierce competition!

What is weird is that they still released the M6 Gran Coupe with only RWD regardless of the 4MATIC AMG rumors.

Maybe BMW just want to get knocked onto their heads by the competition and come back even stronger afterwards... For now we know that the M5 and M6 Gran Coupe won't get LCIs for at least 2 or 4 years respectively, which means no AWD.
