The Chernobyl Of Millennial Meltdowns

I'm just gonna leave this here. Enjoy:

Apparently, telling someone they spelled something wrong is a triggering event. It’s the Chernobyl of snowflake meltdowns.

Carol Blymire is a communications consultant, public relations professional, and an all-around jack-of-all-trades in this field. Earlier this month, she detailed a meltdown at a client’s office, where some young woman was very, VERY upset that she was told that she spelled hamster with a “p.” She explained to her boss that she has always spelled “hamster” “ham[p]ster” all her life. Well, that’s good; it’s still wrong. Her boss was by this account, professional and understanding, but this crazy gal just wouldn’t let it go. She called her mother (yeah, you read that right), and proceeded to criticize her boss for telling her that she was wrong about the word. She put it on speakerphone too, so everyone could hear these ramblings.

Here is the whole Twitter thread...

Huh?

Baby boomers are from the mid 1940's to the mid 1960's. Their children are nearing retirement age these days and are between 40 and 50 years old.

It's not the baby boomers - it's their children that are the parents of these kids.

And - while some might blame the parents - which is certainly a contributing factor among many - that essentially is doing the exact same thing as the problem dictates - blaming others for the actions of oneself.

It isn't the lazy 20 year old's fault - it's his/her parents? Bullshit - it is the fault of whomever is the center of the statement. Just because you had shit parents, doesn't give you an excuse to act like an entitled shit.

My parents divorced when I was 4. My father was a pathological liar who never did anything responsible in his life. It wasn't until he died that I found out I had several brothers and sisters who I never met. I was told I was an only child.

My mother has been married nearly half a dozen times and is a severe narcissistic fuck who constantly belittles me to this day. So bad that we refuse to allow her to see her grand daughter without supervision. She yells, screams, and throws stuff.

This was my childhood and I managed okay.

A child will certainly have a harder time at life with crummy parents - but the only one to blame at the end of the day is oneself.

I still place all blame on this to one thing: The F'n Participation Trophy.

This was the clarion that actually signaled the beginning of the end of self-betterment and made it ok to say, "Good effort, Johnny/Jane/Amorphous Non-Genderized name.

My coach from HS just passed away last weekend and the service is on Thursday. There will be hundreds, maybe even thousands of people in attendance even though I went to a very small private K-12 school. The reason is that they were hard on us. Very hard. Both academically and athletically. We won multiple state championships in all sports and beat teams from much larger schools. I can't even count the academic subject-matter awards.

It was unacceptable to skirt your responsibilities both academically and athletically. We were paddled when necessary, made to run laps in full pads when other teams scored on us, (1 lap per point. In football. Think about that for a moment.) and were expected to be as gentlemanly as possible for 14-18 year olds. All of my best friends to this day went to that school, played sports, and have go forward to have significant and responsible careers. Excellence isn't an event, it's a habit and way of life. While we all admit that we have had an unhealthy competitive streak which as manifested itself negatively in some aspects of life, it has been a good thing 95% of the time

That spelling crap would have been smashed to bits by Mrs. Wiltz. She was our super-hot teacher English/Grammar teacher with a tolerance for BS shorter than a nanosecond. Each of the subjects teachers as well as her parent(s) did and, in the case of her parent, are still doing her a disservice.

As her fellow human being I'm embarrassed for her.

Rant over.

Cheers-mk

Pussies.

I don't care if you've spelled it with one "s" your whole life, either.

Conversely, you can have everything and throw it all away. I nearly did and had several friends who did. A couple of them now deceased.

Success or lack thereof is the responsibility of the person who looks back at you in the mirror every day.

You're a good man, RS.
