Sandy Beach, Oahu - 7-8ft swells, 10s - surfer paradise. WCGW?
Yesterday was fist big swell of the summer. An 8ft swell at this interval is about a 12 foot curling wave. Surfers dream... Not my video...but you get the idea of what was going on.
From my stance, and what I could recall, 12 foot curling wave twisted me up and pounded me down into the sand base. Radial fracture on the fibula, torn deltoid and other ligaments. Vacation over...need to head back home for surgery . Could have been worse.... Found out everyone in the emergency room has a story about Sandy Beach, I was just the days victim. Live and learn.

At least it was your leg and not your neck. Many people have broken their necks at Sandy's. Only place worse is Waimea Shorebreak.
