Not too shabby, but we'll see how their quality holds up.

Literally anything is better than the Pentastar V6.

They seem heavy at 430-441 lbs with the B58 apparently weighing in at just over 300. May not be comparable, depending on what "fully dressed" and "dry" etc. mean.

In reality its more like re-entering the gas segment. They have been using Inline 6 motors since the 70s in most Jeep applications before switching to the V6. Plus the diesel Inline 6 used in the Ram 2500 or higher series trucks. I'm excited to see how it performs, especially with some tuning.

That power plant would make a jeep or gladiator more palatable to me. It's what they always should've had.

If reliability can be... achieved. That should be a major shot in the arm to stave off Jeep competitors (Bronco.. if they can ever really make enough).

This right here. My friend has a Gladiator and says the power is lacking.

Of all the underpowered vehicles I've driven, the Gladiator and the 4Runner hold the top spots.

Selling my V8 4Runner is one of my car regrets. That thing was so great.

Perhaps it depends on the 4Runner? My wife's 2020 4Runner does alright with it's 270hp 4.0L V6. On paper, the mags say it does 0-60 in 7.6 and the 1/4 at 15.6@88mph. It definitely needs to use all the revs though. The truck would be so much better (and quicker) with an 8 speed auto instead of the long geared and archaic 5 speed auto. The throttle tuning is also terrible. It feels like BMW's Eco Pro throttle.

4Runner with 150hp 3.slow V6 was miserable, but the 4cyl even more. Poor mileage, power, everything. Those low compression v6s were bad. Clutch was smooth though.

It depends a lot. In the 2000s high compression V6s became a thing and all of a sudden 240-300hp was the norm out of a V6.

2003-2009. the 2005+ got the VVTi update that made 260hp and 330lb-ft of tq. I had a 2008 Limited, great truck, great stereo, just a hell of a vehicle.

Wow that is pretty cool. I always thought they had V6's. My Dad had a 97 4Runner Limited and it was an awesome truck.

We purposefully took it out in the snow and mud and stuff just to see if we could get it stuck. Never happened, just always charged right through anything we threw at it.

I'd love one, but don't want to pay what a clean/low mileage one brings nowadays!
