If the service is ok, 15%. If the service is good 18-20%. If the service stinks somewhere between 0-10% depending on how bad it was.

I do 15% as base. If I had a good service/experience, I'll go up to 20%

The "bad service" has to be on the server's part. If the kitchen is slammed and my food comes out later than I wanted, but everything comes out together and the server lets me know the kitchen is slammed, then still start at double taxes and round up.

So you pay them to cheat on (steal from) the restaurant?

20% rounded up unless service sucked; then maybe 10%. If it is really horrible I'll tip a dollar and call the manager to discuss.

I tip well. But if I had to put a % I'd say at least 20%. I've tipped 20 bucks on 15 dollar bills. All depends on the service but even bad service I'll tip 15%.

I double tax (which is now 10.25% where I am) and round down. If service is really bad, then I'll leave no tip.

I typically tip 20% not including tax. That's for standard service, nothing above and beyond. I rarely tip above 20% regardless of how good service is. Tipping on other services is a completely different discussion as I do not follow the "20% standard".

20% is the standard for me. If the server is exceptionally nice to me or my kids I could go higher.

20% standard +/- depending on level of service. Have to be pretty terrible to get 10%.
Would be nice if more restaurants were popping up that offered a full time pay and benefits instead of the tip system, but, don't see it expanding for a long time.

15-20% but still think it's absolutely absurd. Makes no fuckign sense at all. I go home (australia) and just pay the fucking bill and restaurants do just fine.

First off, I always ask for a female server. They’re better at customer service. I give 25-40% if they give me their number. 3-6% and a bad review if they don’t give me their phone number.

If the management is too cheap or greedy to hire the correct amount of people and/or schedule enough people during busy times, then you've gotta get your pound of flesh somehow. Tips are earned, not deserved...so if it takes longer than usual to get my food, more than likely due to management running a skeleton crew, I don't blame servers for doing little things for the greater good of the restaurant. Servers are looking out for their best interests just like management is, but if the customer isn't happy, then everyone losses.

Hahaha. I've been a server for 3 years. 15-20% is fair. If it's a big party, 18%+
