I tried it for a while and liked PS better, but that was ages ago and I know a lot more about post-processing now.
DxO does no local adjustments, all global. A committed PS wonk will probably not like it. It's great for RAW conversion to jpeg or tiff, correcting for lens errors and being great at maximizing dynamic range and color balance. If you still want to do detail work you'll need to go into PS.

That's the one I was trying to think of earlier. You have it? If so, do you like it? Is it a PS plugin?

Yeah, I have it. Love it. It can do global adjustments as well as local adjustments. I haven't messed around with it too much since I haven't had the time, but it's really good.

I'm not sure about a PS plugin since I use LR4 now. But, it interfaces well with LR.

I just downloaded it and ran a conversion with it. Not bad. It does work as a plugin to PS. I like all the different presets and film replications.

Nice shot. Looks like each of her feet is on an air bubble.

Actually there were no air bubbles...those indentations were from its weight on the water...the ripples were from its movement and sudden stopping....

Agreed. Nice shot, rem.

So is yours, panicos.

I can't wait until April when I'll be near an ocean and can try some of those shots.

guys what i'm i doing wrong? i feel my photos are not..how can i put this.. "alive". i mean, somethings missing.. for example the two above pics, remmibs pic certainly looks way better.. it feels different.. My PP on that shot was minimal so it shouldn't be that.. or maybe it was because of that? i don't know.. is it the camera/lens?

any thoughts? critique?

Not sure what you mean. Your pic look fine. Rem's pic has very nicely done bokeh, but that would have ruined your ocean pic. And closeups like rem's are more likely to have that 3D look than a seascape picture.

sorry for the realatively colourless picture compared to what you guys have been posting up.

Just thought the bird was showing off and it was cool.

I think that last shot is quite effective. There's nothing going on in the sky, except the glow. The wave interest and use of slow SS is making it more interesting than the actual lighting. I think that you did a lot with not much.

Oh, BTW, love the straight horizon. You're catching on really fast.

Great, dramatic colors and the water droplets add a lot of interesting detail.

attempt at making the bird stand out more. Wish I wasn't like 400 yards away, would have been so much more detail to play with
