How to accept payment for higher priced items?

'Higher priced' meaning 'in the thousands.'

Is there any way to accept payment to a PayPal Premier account without incurring fees? I dont want to pay $100+ just to accept a payment.

If not, what is the safest way for both the buyer and the seller? Mailing a cashier's check?

Safest way is a wire transfer. There will be fees for the sender, but receiving party walks with whatever amount is sent, and it is non refundable. Once that $ is in your account, it's yours. This is the most common method I encounter in business for large amounts when a relationship lacks trust.

Bad idea. If you send money as "payment owed" or anything under the personal tab, fees are limited/none. With a personal account, you can only transfer $500 in and out of your bank account a month.

Usually a suitcase with 10's and 5's is ok.

im basically just doing this for a one-time transaction. if i get, say $4k sent to me for goods into a personal account, can i then upgrade to premier and transfer the $4k to my bank account?

If you're sending the money, go into your bank and they'll set you up - you need an acct # and routing#.

If you're receiving, check with your bank for the wire transfer routing # - its not the same as the number on your checks. Provide the number they give you (most banks have it posted on their website) and account number to the sender. Ask for a copy of the wire transfer confirmation.
