I believe it is here, too - although there may be exceptions in some states(?).

Nevertheless, enforcement is a pale shadow of what it once was, and I think there's no consequence to passing on the right as far as getting a ticket goes.

We are allowed here if you are in a "continuous lane of traffic". There is a lot of leeway in that little phrase.

Yes I should have mentioned that, if traffic builds up in a faster lane and that lane slows then you can go past. Just have to watch out for the sudden pull outs into your lane from impatient drivers.

It's a tragedy, but it really does annoy me how the article paints the officer's arriving at the incorrect location as being the primary reason for the incident. It was the individual opening the door armed with a handgun that led to his death. That fell solely on him! It is not uncommon to be given improper information by the informant(s) or victim(s) who call for assistance. Those officers were responding to a domestic violence call - the call type most likely to result in the death of an officer - and that was the impetus for their mental state. ANYBODY answering the door armed with a handgun risks being shot by officers.

If I had a knock on the door and didn't know who was outside I might have a gun in my hand. But I'm also not opening the door until I know who it is for certain. And no one will see my gun unless I felt it needed to dissuade some bad person with bad intent. I have both cameras and a window I can see through the door. The door isn't opened if I don't know the situation is OK. In this case once I'm sure it's cops I put the gun away FIRST and then open the door. The cops would never have seen the gun.

Very sad for him. BTW I live in a very safe place. I'm just security conscious. Bad things happen even in safe areas.

The cops on scene had already identified themselves multiple times. The decedent asked for this.

Hebbe said a slow-motion analysis of the body camera footage shows Robert Dotson opening the door with his left hand and holding a gun in his right hand. He said Dotson then held the weapon in both hands and pointed it at officers before he was shot.

Hmmmm.... Why would he do this? Did he not know they were police? Had he had previous bad experiences? Were there criminals going around impersonating police? What time of night/morning was it?

We lost one, and on his birthday. County Sherriff and military veteran. I know I've come across him on duty as we have served in the same units, but did not know him.

Minneapolis did the same. I know a lot of officers that have been asked to transfer to MPLS and they straight refuse.

I think most of us knew it would only be a matter of time. Defund the police! Let Social Workers handle the situation! It was just so laughable on so many levels!
