Taking delivery when SA absent?
Hi all,
Is there any particular downside to picking up the car on the day SA is not available (thus delegating to another colleague)? For someone reasons I strongly prefer a day he is not in. Thanks for any thoughts you might have. |

Unless there is something you want an explanation on I don't think it matters one way or the other.

Just have the dealer’s BMW Genius explain the car functionality to you instead of a salesman.

I would wait for my salesman as he/ she has skin in the game if there are any issues. The BMW Genius would be useless if there are any problems and simply pass the buck to someone else.

Thank you all. These are all good points to consider. I think I will wait to take delivery while SA is available, but I do realize there aren't significant concerns if own SA is not present.

The sales guy is just gonna be there to shake your hand and collect his commission. You're gonna deal with the finance manager and if there's any issues the service manager. No reason to wait around for them.

My salesman spent well over an hour with me going over virtually every feature in my car and made sure that all of my questions were answered to my satisfaction. He gave me his cell number and he said to call or text him anytime and I have contacted him several times when I was unsure about something. Last edited by Westside Guy; 10-12-2024 at 09:18 AM.. |

I went through this, everything was negotiated upfront. I had no issues and all went smoothly but it was a dealer not in my area so the continued relationship wasn't a factor.

I've had a CA come in on an off day to do my delivery.

BTW, a good sales person will want to take the time to meet with you when you pickup your new car as they are trying to build a relationship where you seek them out on your next purchase.
