28% meaner-looking. How do you quantify that?

At least, the interior does appear to look better.

Anyway, I agree with you on the looks of the next Mustang. The front looks great.....a hint of futuristic design mixed with muscle. The interior isn't bad either(except for the speedometer...120mph ...camon)
I'm really disppointed with the engines though. There is absolutely no update . I read somewhere that the next mustang will get a new 5.0 Dohc V8 with 360hp and more fuel efficient then the 4.6 V8 . That article also stated, the current 4.0 V6 will also replaced by a more efficient 3.5 V6 producing 270hp. but I guess that article was wrong. Or maybe it was right but Ford couldn't afford to do it due to the "financial crisis" going on.
No prob man.

I'm personally hoping for a forced-induction V6 for the base Stang. Hell, I'll be happy if they just ditch the current base V6 altogether.

+1. The stitching really helps out the interior.

Realistically, this model might not make it to the assembly line with Ford's present balance sheet.

I thought the looks and image were the reasons why people in the States bought Mustangs?

Yes there is better cars out there but is that really the point, the same can be said about the BMW Mini, packaging wise it's piss poor and the looks are as dated as a 8 track radio but that is the appeal.

I know if I lived in the States I would probably have a Mustang in the garage for those days when cruising was important than the driving itself. You need to look past it's faults/downfalls and buy into the image/experience.

Spot on. I think it was Consumer Reports that noted that looks make up a large percentage of what buyers end up choosing.

That's a huge gain. My V6 Camaro from 1998 made about 200hp. I believe it's 3.8L.

I think it looks better slightly. It's more aggresive and they smoothed out some of the awkward bulges. However, I can't say I really had high hopes in any regard for the new Mustang anyways.

It looks decent, but with all things the devils are in the details.

I also don't like the white parts in the rear light assembly. They look like sandwiches Overall shape is nice though.

for those saying it's not fast this and that, look at where they are now....they're in need of bailouts and if they don't amend their vehicles to better EPA ratings, no bailout IF any...

Just like the last generation... garbage. Shiny and sculpted garbage, but still garbage.

Where do you get leaf spring suspension? While it may be a live axle, it's multi-link and coil springs (coil springs have been on mustang rears since the '79 Fox chassis cars). Since the majority of modded Mustangs tend to hit drag strips, the fans wanted the stronger, simpler live axle, vs the heavier, more complex, and more expensive IRS. And even in road racing venues, a live axle isn't as much of a detriment as many armchair racers would like to think. I've driven enough well sorted live axle sports cars and musclecars on the track to know that it's not a deal-breaker. They still win with regularity:

I'm not a huge american car fan, but that comment does not relate to the mustang. The mustang is the best selling sporty car in America. I'm not a fan, but Ford sells the crap of the car.
