While it makes no rational sense I do think there are some die hard old school Alfa guys who take a perverse pleasure in the challenges of ownership. One of those if it were easy anyone would do it, the hard is what makes it great kind of thing.
Not that you'd want your brand new $80k Quadripleggio laid up all the time.

I've seen two regular Guilias around; one white and one modded silver one. I thought the silver was a QV until I saw the exhaust. It had a matte black hood and the QV wheels. It looked great in person.
Haven't seen a real QV yet but I have just recently spotted my first Stelvio... meh.

Just curious: Where are you and others getting 'QV' from? It's a Quadrifoglio. No 'v' in that word at all ... and its translation ('four-leaf', with the 'clover' implied) really doesn't work, either ... ?

... aaah: found it. The 'V' is for 'Verde': green. So the translation is 'four-leaf green'. Meh.

Has to do with some old preww racing and crashing etc. In the 80's/90's they also had the QO versions, from Quadrifoglio Oro, or four leaf gold. They used that for luxury models (and qv for performance models obviously). But thats more for the Alfisti Those models had indeed a golden 4 leaf cloaver badge. A collegue of mine used to drive an alfa 90 with the 2.5 busso and an QO badge. Pretty rare car. Sadly he didnt have the famous suitcase.

I know about 3 in my area, one is a Giulia Ti, the other one is a base Giulia. One red, one white are the ones I see while the Black Giulia is probably not directly in where I live.
I been to the Alfa Romeo dealership many times as it is under my consideration. These cars do not sell very well. There are about 100 or so Giulia's sitting around at the dealership it shares with Maserati and Bentley. In fact the Bentley and Maserati sells faster so that kinda gives you an idea of how many people in my area really cares. Their lease "deals" are at an odd 27 months for whatever reason and the last time I checked, for 27 months lease, you are expecting a 55% residual already. For 2 years and 3 months, that is how hard the car takes a hit in such a short time. 10k miles is what I asked, they also ask for a deposit that covers the first month's payment, acquisition title and drive off etc. Edit: I'm not going to bash the car as the reason why I want to try my hand at leasing is because I wanted to drive one to see if I can live with it. My problem is how bad the residual is. Of course that can change month to month and the # I was given behind the official numbers was better but for whatever reason I don't trust Alfa Romeo much at the moment. Also, I live in an area where Porsche, Benz, BMW are more in numbers than a Honda and Toyota. We have a lot of rich dudes around here and if they aren't buying cars like Alfa, that shows you how much they actually care.

I saw a red QV today - first one I’ve seen in person. Nice looking car but I liked it better in pictures and videos for some reason.

Not nearly as good as the other Italians with their "red heads."

I've seen precisely one on the road so far.
And I live in an area where every third car is either BMW or Tesla, with McLaren sightings several times a week. I'd speculate it's because there's no mainsteam engine option - either icky (though perfectly adequate) base 4, or insane turbo 6 for big $$$. I'd expect to see more if there were a nice midline turbo 6 option (~350HP 3.0 or so) for maybe a $3-5k jump from the base model. But then, people may just be staying away based on reputation. They've never been known for reliability.

Would probably have gotten one if they had brought the manual QV to the states. But they didn't. So I didn't even bother test driving one. Their loss I guess?

Definitely not wrong there... Would love to add an Alfa to my garage history, but no! That said, saw a Fiat 124 the other day in white and it looked excellent! Too bad its not a real spider, not that the miata is bad, but still.

One of my best friends is the GM for the local Fiat/Alfa dealership. I see them WAY too much...
The Alfas are actually selling really well. |
