I don't think any movie has actually disturbed me, you guys are just giving me ideas to watch all these movies. Maybe Fast and the Furious 1, due to the lack knowledge of cars and how bad the acting and the lines were from 2001

Natural Born Killers. I had to shut it off after the first few minutes.

Now that I'm older, I realize how disturbing it is that this is one of my favorite movies. I have to say, Robert Downey Jr.'s character in this film is one of my favorites of his.

"The Blob" starring Steve McQueen. I was just a kid when I saw it, so there's that.
"Platoon" starring Tom Berenger, etc. This one disturbed me because I did 12 months in Vietnam, in the 25th Infantry Division. I wasn't so much disturbed by the gore, but rather that the producer compressed just about everything wrong with the war into the alleged experiences of just one platoon. I don't think that part was realistic, but it did get the point across to some degree. Further, I was disturbed that this movie over-emphasized the behavior of some soldiers (a minority in my experience) that tended to smear those who served honorably.

I found Sinister pretty disturbing. All the Saw's past the first one. There's a moment in Pan's Labyrinth that just ruined the remainder of the movie, as I felt the brutality entirely unnecessary. Really anything that is clearly made for people that delight in watching the suffering of others gets a hard pass from me.

If you're Christian and know the book of Revelations, "The Prince of Darkness" freaked me out.
Recently saw "All My Life". I'll admit it...I balled my eyes out for 2 hours. Reason being, it's almost a direct story about my life with almost the exact same time line. The only difference is I'm still here and the girlfriend/fiance/wife that the story was also about stuck by her husband versus mine. And the movie is based on true life events. |
