The Ferrari has air-split valves under the front spoiler , at least in Barcelona .

But all that can be already changed tomorrow , because the teams stored massive data in Barcelona .As we know It's going bullet fast in the F1 technology .

From 5 hours ago :
Still no shipping for the HAAS cars , too bad ! Because they will miss the first test session from tomorrow .
Bad luck and a bad beginning for K.Magnussen ...Would love to see him on MAX's side ...
Who knows ...Maybe some day .
I don't think turbulence causes that issue, turbulent air isn't laminar so it wouldnt be able to accelerate the same and cause a massive pressure drop required for the venturi tunnels to work. So it would probably reduce down force preventing porpoising instead of causing it. So I don't think turbulence is the issue.

I'm not sure how valves would help either, I think you're talking about the flow conditioner under the front wing, but that's pretty normal among all of the teams and that's to generate the smooth Laminar flow teams want.

I think RUS is a little overrated but still really good. Better than Bottas. I think he will fall short of Max, Charles, Norris as far as the younger drivers go but it all depends on if Merc pulls off another brilliant car.

Some concept art of what a w13 without side pods would look like:

It doesn't look to radical, literally what we already saw but even slimmer. But this design would feed air to the rear diffuser, beam wing, main wing, more effectively than any other undercut or over cut design on the grid. I suspect other teams to fear this because they will never be able to replicate this design as their engines can be packaged any differently due to the engine freeze preventing changes to the engine to allow a tighter packaging. So likely only other Mercedes powered teams might have a shot at replicating this and if it is indeed a game changing innovation then the Mercedes powered teams will leave everyone in the dust, if they can figure out this so called chemical cooling system.

Btw the spars where the mirror mounts is the side impact structure, so it would make it crash test legal.

But we shall see in 9 hours time what Mercedes has to offer.

I can't say Carlos hasn't earned that perspective but I still think LeClerc is a future WDC.

AMR seems to have copied the little mirror air deflectors that the W13 has, a minor upgrade but an upgrade nonetheless:

If they can keep the car cool at that track during the day then cooling won't be an issue.

I can't wait to see more detail on this and some real lap times!

Yeah if they can cool it, then this design is very interesting. Before the side pods were really small, but now they really do look like they aren't even there from some angles. I really want to see some overheat shots. It isn't a true zero pod but it is really close. I just saw some footage of the merc coming towards the camera at an angle and you can really just see from the front to the rear, the side pods really don't cover anything.

There are alot of little tweaks on the merc too, you can see the body and mirror area have new aero bits in that area. So far the merc still has some stiffening stays on the floor, so that will likely change before the race day. The merc still needs to be dialed in, it looks squirrely in some corners.

I bet the rest of the field are open mouthed at those sidepods, if they can cool the car and have such a streamlined design that will be game changing.

Lol if this solution actually works mercedes will be dominating atleast until the new engines come in in 2026 because no one will be able to fully copy them without an engine redesign.

BTW I heard horner is starting to complain about legalities etc. LOL that means mercedes has done something remarkable. trade mark redbull right there, if you can't out engineer them try and get it banned.

I posted all the pictures on the new f1 thread here: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...4#post28671724

But merc still has the old front wing and rear wing which they can still play with. Along with their floor that still needs to be improved to not rely on stiffening stays. So there's still alot of performance to be had. That must be scaring the others.

On another note the alfa front wing is really really interesting in terms of shape and it is wavy too. AMR has a new floor which is interesting. Nothing about redbull yet.

The Ferrari does look the best from a setup standpoint so far. The Merc looks like a handful but I'm sure they will dial in the setup over the next few days. They have also added the rear floor stays back. Merc didn't get their setup right until the last day last year.

Lots of front inside wheel lockups for nearly everyone. Slow speed corners seem to be much slower in these cars.

And if mercedes asked for previous consent like they did with DAS then those cries from RB will fall on deaf ears.

Seems that slow speed is a struggle as they aren't getting the downforce from the floor then. So I suspect that is where we can see better closer racing in slower speed corners as they are more reliant on mechanical grip.

It was interesting some teams said that following on the straights was bad as you didn't get anything like as much slip stream effect as the downforce was so strong, so will be interesting to see passes on straights compared to previous seasons.

Yes, the cars seem a but "clunky" in the slow speed corners. The Ferrari looks the best and they seem to be a bit ahead of the others in setup.
