As a Vikings fan I actually like this idea and have been floating this idea with other folks that I talk football with. I might be the only fan that wouldn't mind seeing this happen. jefferson is the type of WR you pay big bucks to. Especially if Cousins isnt your long term plan. if you asked the chiefs if they would give up the picks they got for hill and get Hill back, they would do it in a heartbeat.

Cousins definitely isn't the answer. You need to cut him loose and hope you pick the right quarterback in the draft. Having JJ will accelerate that QB's growth and his contract will overlap with the QB rookie deal so you'll have the cap room to afford him. The first part of that article - trade Cousins to the Jets and write off this year - I do that all day, every day and personally drive Cousins to NY.

I just need to see more effort in building out other areas. We aren't going to win with JJ, a bad defense, poor O-line, and no running game. Throwing the ball all over the field doesn't do it for me without the other pieces.

Agreed on Cousins. We should trade him now and at least get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him vs let his final year of his contract run out.

Cousins isnt the issue.

the defense is the issue. poor drafting and building of the defense has led to this.

Cousins has thrown for 364yds 4tds 0ints and 344yds 2tds 1int in 2 losses. The defense and lack of a running game is letting him down.

But i agree with the point that Jefferson is the best way to get good qb play on that offense.

I don't think you can win it all with a veteran quarterback that is in that 10 to 15th best range on an expensive deal.
I think you either need a top 5 (maybe top 10 with good drafting) QB who's good enough to overcome for all the deficiencies a team creates when they pay QB dollars, or an above average young QB o a rookie deal where the team can spend on all of the other key areas of the field and have a complete team.

Cousins is in that no mans land where he is good but not great but too expensive to put great around him.

There are some videos on line. His foot was planted and Minkha went low directly to the front of the knee. Chubb's knee bent backwards(hyperextended) quite a bit, it was disgusting. Anyone's knee is gong to get destroyed in that situation.

same thing was said about stafford.

You need a top 15 QB to make the playoffs. Once in the playoffs, you need health and good coaching. Vikes havent had good coaching.

Its the same argument people like to say about Dak. Reality is, once youre in the playoffs, anything goes. Mahomes/Brady have skewed peoples perspectives on what it takes to win a sb and expectations for every season. Your best bet at making a SB is making the playoffs. A qb of Cousins talent can do that.

And the alternative to dumping a QB like cousins is you get stuck drafting qbs that dont pan out. 21 QBs taken in the 1st round over the last 6 years. Only ones that you can say are hits right now are Lamar, Allen, Burrow, Herbert, Lawrence, and maybe Tua. And only 1 of those has made a SB. Not great odds
