Microsoft Announces New Xbox 360 Black-Elite

Microsoft has plans to release a new black, limited edition Xbox 360 that will be pumped up.

The system will officially be called the Xbox 360 Elite and will include a 120 GB hard drive and HDMI. In addition, the Elite console will run cooler than the regular Xbox 360. The system will feature the case, controller and Live headset, all in black.

Of course, this all comes at a price of $479. Once the limited edition Elite black consoles sell out. Microsoft plans to release the 120 GB hard drive and HDMI in the standard Premium Xbox 360 package. Currently there is no confirmation when the Elite systems will officially hit stores, but it is believed to be later this spring or early summer.

Apparently it's new technology which would allow the Xbox 360 to run at far cooler temperatures as well as being far more quiet.:rocks:

The thing about the noise is its not the boards etc that make the noise - its the DVD unit. Mine is quiet till you put a game in.

Well the talk is of 65nm, so that should help the heating issue. This kind of sucks though - I just got mine in February. Glad it was off craigslist.

I read gizmodo everyday, where do you see that microsoft officially released this? This is still speculation.

They finally decided to add the oil cooler after during testing a few 360s went into limp mode.

My first 360 took a major dump on me and I had to return it after only 2 weeks from purchasing it brand new. Luckily they completely replaced it.

Hope microsoft resolved all the issues with this new version. On a side note, looks like sony has been dropping the ball in regards to exclusive rights to specific games. Microsoft ofcourse jumped right on it (e.g. gta, grand turismo, devilmay cry 4). Way to go Microsoft, better yet..way to go Sony
