Went to dyno today.
Well today I finally took the 335xi to the dyno and thought I would share my results. First of all the car is bone stock with a 6at and 36000 miles, I bought the car in Nov. as a cpo car. I made two pulls with it stock and then installed the Cobb ap and made two more pulls. We had problems with tach signal ,so I did not get torque reading on three of the pulls. All numbers were uncorrected on a dyno-jet.
Run #1 259 whp Run #2 264 whp Run #3 318 whp/ 352 wtrq Run #4 327 whp Well those were the results. I'm really happy with the results but wish I would of got all the trq numbers on the runs. I 'm running Stage 1 aggressive 93 octane with no other mods. How do my numbers look? The car seems like a totally different vehicle. |

not bad, 68whp delta. Seems pretty good actually if its tune only. The overall numbers would be lower if you used STD correction in today's cold weather though.

Your absolutely correct, On the first run with 259 whp , the corrected #'s were 252 whp and on run 3 309 whp corrected instead of 318 whp. Today when I dynoed it was about 30 degrees outside but in the shop the dyno had a test temp of 50 degrees. Well all and all I'm quite pleased with the tune and the performance. I also own a evo 8 fbo, when I first had that dynoed at the same dyno shop it put down 240 whp/ 240 ish wtrq bone stock. I then did my first round of mods dyno tune, hks 272 cams, full 3inch exhaust, race intercooler and piping and boost contoller and netted 84 whp for about $4500.00 .So $800 for the Cobb was well spent for over 60 whp.

Seems pretty solid. I was a little over your baseline with FBO (sans exhaust) with no tune, but I only have 91 octane. I would definitely go FBO and run FMIC Aggressive map since you have 93.

Where can you buy downpipes for 200 dollars? Are they new or used and are they the cheaper ones that rust out ? Are the Big Tom intercoolers as good as other vendors version?

I live right by there too, their dynojet reads lower than the typical dynojet you see on this forum - its good you have a baseline
your baseline looks just like the stock XI I had come up a while ago, this was in 70 degree weather a couple years ago (at pruven): Last edited by jpsimon; 01-22-2012 at 10:58 PM.. |

I was curious, so I did a test a couple years back - i went to this dyno the OP is talking about, and then another awd dynojet at ICS on the same day. Same kind of dyno, same temps, there was a ~20awhp difference. Both had the same kind of crappy fan.
The moral of the story for anyone posting dyno results, you NEED a baseline or your results are worthless - so it's good the OP was able to do that |

Their dyno is a mustang dyno, which reads lower than most. What kind of power did your car make on their dyno? Just for refrence my 2005 fbo evo 8 makes 390-395 awhp/ 370 awtrq on pruven performances dyno and made 348 awhp /350 awtrq on efi's dyno. Hope that helps with your question.

A skilled dyno operator can tweak the software to inflate readings. This is done more easily on Dynojets than on most other dynos.
Many car owners are less concerned about the delta (which is what dynos are must useful for determining) than with "bench racing" others about whose car has the most power. Neil |

but with a jb+ maxed it put down 334hp. I felt that was very generous seeing that stock puts usually puts ~280? Ill be installing the dp's and then picking up a cobb AP from them in February.
