That's just one example of the many options.
exactly.
Torque-Fill is simply a "whole new thing"

Just like in the lovely McLaren P1.

"Lovely, just lovely"

Let's replace the turbos with electric power and put the NA sound back into M cars!

That may not happen because of emissions but it's an option , imagine a smaller inline 6 or V8 that's got a 8.5-9.0k redline?

There is a YouTube video (cannot find the link) featuring Porsche 918 Spyder on Nurburgring track. The driver talks about how the front electrical motors provide instant torque and power to emerge from the turn quicker than any other car. That's the future and I don't mind it.

Ownership would be costly after the first 5 years. Replacement parts for the electric components can't be something to avoid.

Could be awesome if they incorporate what they've learned from the i8 into future M cars.

A few years ago I was hoping the now G chassis would have that. I guess I'll wait another model.

This would be good. Add in CF shell to keep weight down and I'm in.

Aka the i8. My buddy has one and he loves it. I have to admit the torque off the line is insane - when in sport mode.

Hay, this is my first DCT car. But in Seattle traffic a DCT makes a lot of sense. Also, now DCT cars are faster and get better mileage than 6 speed. This was not the case with my previous M3.

If they make ALSO an electric M car, then, whatever. If they put electric motors in all M cars, is a NO for me.

I do not want anything electric in my car and don't care how good is a McLaren. I am against electric vehicles for too many reasons and I am quite good with a NA vehicle thank you. If they do, bye.
I already voted with my wallet against the new FWD platform by buying a different brand.

Am I the only one that hoped the G80 would be a hybrid powertrain? Would love to see a hybrid turbo system paired with KERS. Probably not able to hit the price point yet. Maybe next gen.

They don't wear out like you're thinking.

Much better than ICE.

This isn't news. We heard this talk like a year ago at least...

I'd welcome a hybrid M car. Hybrids have been racing at the highest level of motorsport for years now, and it's not like any of BMW's M cars have sounded good since the E9x M3 anyhow.

Took them long enough. Thought it would be common sense to electrify some of the cars components for better performance. I am honestly surprised that only now M division is waking up. BMW iM3 for the foreseeable future? Can work.
Combustion engines and manual transmissions wont last.

Except it isn’t. Porsche’s own GT2 RS is faster around the Nürburgring.

Blah blah and then blah. Hybrid is a band aid. I’m waiting for the pure electric M3 with massive carbon content and 500 mile range.
