shift light problem help!!!!

hi, there, i just got my car, but the shift lights in my car not coming on, i tried every thing , including m drive and m key, the signal pedal as well, but it just not working properly, could some one give me some ideas?? is this caused by the computer glitch?? could someone give me some ideas??
