The deed is done...sold my 428i and ordered a

A Tesla Model 3 Performance

Well that escalated quickly....

as many of you know, about a month ago(even before the announced price drops and tax credits) I started noticing some great prices on used Tesla's so I test drove a 2019 Model 3 Long Range and was instantly blown away how fuggin fast that thing was and immediately knew I had to have one..

Fast forward to today as I patiently wait for my newest edition to arrive ...
I sold the BMW on OfferUp in like 4 days for very close to asking price and then pulled the trigger on a low mile pre owned Model 3 Performance from Tesla at an amazing price!!

Ordered a white on black 2020 M3P with Enhanced Autopilot
The great thing about buying them from Tesla is that they add and extra 10000 miles and one year to the existing 4yr/50k warranty

I'm not political enough to hate on EV's and just love all things cars, especially ones that put a big old smile on your face when you drive it or even see it in your garage....so it's a good thing I have a somewhat forgiving wife who puts up with my car obsession and the number of cars I have bought and sold the last few years ...remember, its always better to ask for forgiveness than it is permission

I still have my 718 to rev the shht out of and shift gears and my JLUR for when I want to hit some off road trails and guzzle some petrol, so I now pretty much have the best of all worlds in my garages now with this latest addition

Can't wait to get this thing home!!!! Will post a full review and first impression once I get next week some time

I love the electric driving feeling, but not how Teslas look. The Roadster would be my taste, though.

Anyway, congrats and have fun.

Congrats OP. Owning a Tesla certainly is a different experience. Some of it good and some of it bad.

what year?

I know the early model years 17-18 have had issues, but the later model ones have gotten much better....I have several friends who have them and love them..most of them said they'll never go back

They seem to be one of the highest rated vehicles on most of the consumer sites that have actual customer ratings....hoping mine is one of the good ones

i was trying to race a truck up the hill yesterday in the 340

got up next to him, 60mph.

pushed stick to sport mode

pulled to downshift one gear

good to go i thought, floored the gas and nothing happened coz the car decided it was in the wrong gear and wanted to shift gear

pulled another gear, engine roaring

gassed it, smashed it

almost red faced

one day I will have a quad axial flux in wheel motor EV with small batteries that are charged by an efficient generator (?ICE, nuclear, fusion, whatever!)

and i won't have this problem

but meanwhile ... V8TT FTW - and it comes with a roaring fake engine sound too.

i wonder if you can code a V10 Huracan sound into the Tesla P ...

i don't know man, my brand new 340i developed a rattle (i think center speaker) at 6 months old and at 12 months the passenger door speaker also started to rattle.

but i can't live without dash cluster and buttons

and i'm way too impatient to charge them

I owned a 2018 model 3 I bought used and I had no issues except the 12v battery dying which Tesla sent their mobile tech to replace. It's super easy to DIY but since it was under warranty let them foot the bill for whatever that little battery costs.

No major issues so far with my 2023. When I got it the seatbelt adjuster that moves it up and down on the driver side wasn't working. Went to this new service center they had just opened by my house. They fixed it, but did not put the trim back properly on the a pilar and kind of dirtied it. When I told them this they immediately sent a mobile tech who replaced it. He said they had new people working at that new service center who didn't know what they were doing yet.

Personally I love the mobile tech stuff. Don't have to go anywhere. I even had them replace a tire that blew out hitting a pothole right there on my driveway it's great.

Congrats on the new car!

so far in less than 2 years her wipers go on and off for no reason, they cant replicate it.
The left front speaker was crackling and popping they replaced it. The pillars are pulling apart. its just complete junk. Has nice instant torque but it really is garbage assembled.

We've have a 2022 MYLR for over a year now and quality is pretty good imo. Not nearly as bad as some make it out to be but I also tailored my expectations to be reasonable. I understand this is not a luxury car and going in with that mindset, I think the Tesla is fine.

My biggest gripe with the car is the ride quality is pretty bad if you're not on a silky smooth road. Frankly, it rides like shit - more jarring than my E90 M3. I was not expecting that but I guess they have a new "comfort" suspension that they're putting on the MY's now so this may be a nonissue now. Sucks we cant get a retrofit for a couple hundred bucks..

I have a buddy who has a contract to do body and paint work for Tesla. They have a Tesla dealership here that brings him stuff. Usually right off the showroom floor when he receives them. Some have loads of issues, misaligned body panels, etc. He has told me NEVER buy a Tesla from the work he sees and has shown me.

I also have a buddy that does the same here in the UK. He said the same. Also said that once the panels are off, the corrosion is astonishing. But they are only built to last for about 8 years or so.
