Yeah I’m just jokingly referring to this story which I’m sure everyone has seen (which is the 3rd or 4th well publicized issue if you count Stradman’s car):

yeah, i think 3 engines and one trans leak. there's 900 produced now so the failure rate is .03% so far, maybe some more will break, hope not mine, ha.

from what i gathered, they got a new engine within 2 weeks, not too bad. even if they didn't need an engine, chevy is swapping them so they can research the problem.

If 3 have failed it’s a 0.33% failure rate, or if it’s 4 it’s a 0.44% failure rate.

But who’s counting (or failing basic math class)

That’s also in the first 1000 miles or so. How many will fail before 5/10/20/30k miles?

Probably less, due to seating and component work hardening/strengthening.

You think there will be less failures as time goes on? The 4 we know about are also only what's been reported online, there could be others that don't post on forums. I really want one of these (at MSRP, one of these days) but this has been a pretty bad rollout from GM all things considered.

That's not the post I replied to. The post I relied to had mileage as the variable.

The best part are the guys who say it's a "super car killer", you just have to point a laugh. A GTR is more of a "super car killer" than this thing ever will be, and they were sold a plenty. You think there's gonna be some bolt on mods to stretch this thing in the 700-800hp range? I doubt it. I have no idea why Chevrolet can't get their shit together and fill their order queue, perhaps this is their attempt to go upmarket?

At $200k + you're in mac or 911 territory, which is just such a different car. I think people look too much at just numbers and don't understand how vastly different things can feel. Tire compound makes such a big difference it's just not comparable.

I still regret getting rid of my C6Z, it wasn't a cope-mobile like this gen. It was unapologetically American and a breed of it's own.

Z06 did well but that 765 is no joke. That’s on a different level. The zr1 should take care of that.

Z06 being the supercar it is, will handle the other supercars like a gt3rs or a 488 around a track.

We live in good times.

What you get in a 150k Z06 is a lot of performance per dollar, even though the MSRP is higher, it's still a strong value proposition car. A 765LT is 500+ in most cases, lol.

Not unlike lining up a Civic Type R with a 992 GT3, purely for clicks.

There are indeed levels to the game. But with all the great cars at 50, 100, 150, 200, etc at least everyone gets a chance to have fun.

Would be more interesting to watch a C8Z and a 600LT.

Against the 765, which is essentially a hyper car.

And what’s the price of that?

The z06 on average spec is around 150k, from a fucking NA engine that weighs a ton.

So the 765 should have demolished it. It’s lighter with more power and active aero. But is it 300k+ faster? Fuck no.

Plus I question mclaren reliability. Great car but the z06 is a better bang for buck.

Like higgs said, I wanna see the z06 vs the 600lt if we have to put it up against another Mac.

Z06 is not even GT3 price range, let alone RS. A solid $50-$60k difference when specing both cars.

C/D Lightning Lap(VIR):

765LT - 2:38.4
C8 Z06 - 2:38.6
992 GT3 - 2:40.6

If I could afford that McLaren, I would not be buying the Z. Sadly, I'm poor so Z it is.

I guess it could apply to those who buy m cars because they can’t afford Porsches.

It’s right but not all the time. Lots of rich people buy corvettes that own Mclarens and Ferraris.

Most affordable supercar you can get anyhow.

With the right tires I’ll take on that bet anyway of the week… I’ll walk the c8 z06 straight line and on the track.. hence I have had the 600lt since new and I have tracked the car so I know what it can do..

Second I get your point in regards to the price and what you get but plz stop comparing apple with oranges I don’t see people with lotus or in your case civic type R comparing like the z06 or better yet the c8 owners like to do all the time… same thing could be said about hyper or SuperCar owners you don’t find them talking down to the Vette owners unless we are provoque by this comparisons
