Moral Question...

The facts:

I get a month off work (paid) for paternity leave.
Due date is August 10th.
I have one year to take the time off post birth.

The question:

Would it be wrong if I waited for my production date and the subsequent reception of my M3 to take the time off?

There's only 1 answer. Get busy as soon as she comes home from the hospital, and in May 2016 take 2 months off.

Nice! I did consider doing a quickie ED with a friend. That is still a possibility.

Hmm, a quickie with a "friend".. That could lead to #4. What does your wife think about that?

It is your time, take it however you want. A month off? Wow. I was bored as F in less than a week with my kid...couldn't wait to go back.

Go get your car and have fun.

Remember this is #3 so I will have plenty to keep me from getting bored. It will be great to have that time to play with my other two while the baby is sleeping.

I just wish the car would be here in July.

What we need diapers??? Screw Amazon mom's club! I'll run to the store. Brb. Hop in M3.

Return home a 'short while' later.

What I was supposed to buy a larger amount??? Ohh darn I guess I need to go back...

Spoken like a true parent...although, I'm guessing all the other people on the plane may disagree with how much they sleep!

Ugh, first kid?

I can tell you the first one with all hormones flying around is so tough and all the mistakes you make will send you to hell on earth. 3 days in the hospital, then take a week off to let the mom and the baby calm down. Three weeks later is plenty to drive the kiddo in the new car around later.

I'm telling you, the hormones truly fuck up the mothers. Do not go into that storm eyes closed.

Parent leave is for that - taking care of newborn either directly or indirectly. Since you are asking the question, it is obvious you want to use the leave for another reason.

You've answered your own question just by asking it, lol.

I've been there . It's scary as hell. The tiny bundle and no instruction manual. I was so literally fucked up by the whole experience that when we got home from the hospital, hubby kicked the kiddo in it's own too because I did not stop being afraid someone would steal it/ take it back/ she'd die if i wasn't staring at her 24/7.

It took me months to calm down. Probably years to let go of the traumas but gladly our second showed up early enough for me to start moving again as me. I was at my friends wedding, puking my guts out because of the lovely hormones when I realized life is pretty fucking awesome if a minor 9months of surviving only on milk could keep me away from having an M3 full of these.

Sadly, I never counted the seatbelts. That and the fact that after all this I still think I could pile a few more (Tetris. It's just not a game, it's educational) into a car and still have the power, handling and the will to live left, makes me the perfect person to say:

Go with cloth seats.

Never, ever think a car will matter again.

What ever she wants, goes. Get used to being whipped.

That is really really sad in a lot of ways.

I took two months off when our daughter was born and it was one of the best things I've ever done in my life.

Our kids have basically slept through their first year. Non stop. Boring in a way, but we renovated houses, went for walks, planned stuff while they slept.

When we had our first, our budget had very little too to wiggle. We were both students, first flat payments to make but I can honestly say the two weeks he took off probably saved his life. It is that much of a change. Anyone saying they were bored were just not doing the shit needed.

We've come a long way since those days in every way, but when ever I'm a bitch and I'm telling him how something is to be done he quotes me on my first bath time experience meltdown. "fuck off, I'm cutting the clothes. No way can I get all these fingers out without few dropping off. No fucking way is our girl ever having clothes on. Fine you do it, Mr know it all"

She still has ten. I may have been wrong and mildly protective.

Edit, just spotted the third. She'll just kill you if she sees even this thread.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself for asking this. As a Mother I know how hard and emotionally stressful it is to care for a newborn. The Mother is going to need all the help she can get at all times of the day and night for the first month especially while she is recovering. Have you ever thought about post pardon depression? Would you like to come home to wife that has killed herself or her child because she felt hopeless with no help? That's how I felt. I had EXTREME lows for first few weeks after I gave birth. While it was trying to adjust and gets used to my new role, my body was changing, healing, and adjusting as well. I honestly would have preferred help during those times the most. If I had a husband that waited until his car arrived to take a month off to help me, we would be divorced.
