Lol... the only “appreciate” I get from Bimmette is when I say we should take our pilot stuff somewhere else.

Flaps down, nose down, Bimmette!

Not irritated at all sir. I dig that this thread has taken as many different directions as it has. Also love the positivity and how supportive everyone is in here. Have had much going on in the personal life and work that has needed tending. Been on a little here and there but have only been posting as time permits.

Gym time is killing me as of late. I've dropped from 211 in November to 158. Currently at 20% body fat and trying to get at 10-12%. At my weight that another 12-16 pounds to lose which would put me at 146-143. Trying to swap 10-15 pounds of fat for 10-15 pounds of muscle is no fun and delicate balance of eating, cardio, weight resistance, trying to get enough sleep with a busy ass work schedule and still try to spend as much time with the lady as possible. When I started this journey I just wanted to not be fat, now it's become something that has invaded every aspect of my life and a goal that has required more effort than originally planned.

Dude - congrats! Losing 53lbs is no joke and you should be proud of that!

I'd be a fricking rail at 146lbs, but I could probably drop to 160 and look good. Right now I'm sitting around 190, on a 6ft / 6ft 1" frame.

Thanks man, I appreciate that. I'm semi-proud. Still see myself as fat though even though I can see the top four of my six-pack. That last little bit of pudge around my waist pisses me off.

I'm 5'9" and keep being told I'm too skinny, but the people that tell me this are are twice my size. I'd like to be around 175 with 10-12% body fat, that's going to be a long drawn out process.

Dude 160 @ 6' seems really small......says the guy that looks like I do currently

Wow, Rudi, that’s a lot of weight loss! Very impressive. A lean mean 175 sounds like a good target. I’m Joe’s height and weigh 200 and could stand to lose ten, but unless I totally give up wine, I don’t think that’s going to happen. So I don’t think that’s going to happen, lol.

Funny I came across this post. Although I’m not as rigid as your schedule in regards to gum and dieting, I’ve found myself at the gym more often. Last Thursdya I gymmes twice in 12 hours and yesterday I gymmed twice within 6 hours. I’m the same height as you, although I’ve been around 160-165 lbs for years. Trust me when i say that anything less than 155 lbs makes you look weak/sickly. I used to be in the 135-140 doing P90x and dieting some years back and seeing old pictures I was like “whoa I looked so frail!”

Eat more protein and take BCAA to replenish your muscle tissues. If you’re dropping weight too much vs building muscles, you’re probably doing too much cardio/weight and not enough food intake. Probably should dial it back a tiny bit and add more fish and chicken to your diet. I’m not looking to get big or super ripped, just tone. I look more fit now and a bit skinnier (folks ar work have commented lol) but I’m still around the 160 lbs range (haven’t weighed myself for exact number). Perfectly happy to be around that range. Goal now is to tone the neck area and I’m golden.

A lot of it has to do with your body type and frame size. Determine what you are and how your body will react to different types of exercise. Before I started going to the gym I was 5'8 and 118lbs(I know, right?). Very low body fat but also very little muscle. I am now sitting at 155 and on my smaller frame looks pretty beefy. If I do more than the 15 min per day cardio is start to drop weight fast. It all depends on the individual.

My diet is pretty spot on at the moment. I'm in a deficiency at around 1700-1800/day at the moment but lots of that is protein (fish, grilled chicken and shakes after workout). I do probably go too hard on the cardio. I do at least 45 - 65 minutes 5 days a week burning anywhere between 850-1050 calories per session to drop the last of this fat. Once the fat is gone I plan to increase caloric intake and focus more on bulking.

This! I've finally got myself dialed in to where I can notice how I feel by changing meals and how hard I go at the gym. I can add/lose 4-5 pounds in just a couple days now. It's crazy.

Ooo that is skinny. I was 108 when most of Hs (probably a bit shorter then too) and 130 hitting college. That was too bony. I think 155-160 is perfect range for you. Agreed on body type.

On a related note, how do you guys approach women at the gym? A lot of them have headphones on making it a bit awkward. I’ve struck up convo with a few that didn’t for fun. That was easier.

I think most people don't go to the gym to meet people, they go there to workout. I find it so annoying when people want to talk to me during my workout, especially cardio.

I've noticed that once you have a decent understanding of how your body reacts to things it is surprisingly easy to make changes.

I would have to agree that most people, male or female that use the gym are just there to do their workouts and leave. So the gym doesn't sound like the ideal place to approach a woman. But then again I'm sure there are women there that are just looking for attention/validation, guess you just need to figure out how to spot the difference.

I would steer clear of the headphone users. Nothing make me as irritated as having to take out my earphones so that someone can talk to me.

The women I know that go the same gym that I do, including my lady, are not interested being approached by men at the gym from what they have told me. A lot complain about "creepy" men following them or trying to approach them while they are working out.

While I'm doing cardio, I keep my earbuds in and keep my eyes closed as to not make eye contact with people in hopes that they won't start a conversation. Rule of thumb, if someone is doing cardio, don't even try to talk to them. It's extremely difficult to talk and suck wind at the same time, not to mention it's hard to focus on keeping pace.

I know you’re never supposed to approach someone at the gym during their set, have earphones on, etc. With that said, the approach needs to be light if you’re to do it. I’ve talked to people there (men and women) and it’s been fine. As long as you’re not being creepy about it it’s fine. I mean, it’s a gathering place so why not? I’m just curious if anyone here have had success considering it’s a dating thread (and people workout).

And yes, definitely a no no on the cardio. Lol come on, it’s common sense.

Is it just me, or do you sorta associate a hairy armpit on a female as probably not smelling very good...

maybe, but an athlete typically won't shave to avoid chaffing. and I suppose someone who actually gets their sweat on could smell bad from time to time

I just associate it with NO. Let's be real, I understand the hair is natural; but in the same sense not cutting my fingernails, nasal hair, trimming body hair, shaving my face or getting a hair cut is along the same lines.

A friend of mine met his wife at the gym, he even approached her while she was using the hip abduction machine, lol quite ballsy. I'd consider that a success
