Any good benefits to getting BMW's credit card?

For those who have it, any special benefits with it for buying BMW stuff or a new BMW?

None that I can think of, you get points that can go toward mileage/ new car but its pretty miniscule. I got my card when I leased my E90, I never signed for it and to this day I think that the finance guy jsut slipped it in there. I guess this has happened to quite a few people though from looking at the board. I would have never gotten it otherwise, and I have never used it.

I got one once. At the time it was through MBNA. Worst mistake ever as my interest rate kept hiking up. They wouldnt negotiate on anything. Plus I dont think I got rewarded at all for any purchases. After a while I felt like a dork pulling out a credit card with the Roundel on it. Like how much more did I have to "put it in someones face" that I have a BMW. Thats not really my style. I like my Amex blue for everything now.

No big benefits.

You need to spend $5,000,000 (minimum) to get the $5000 maximum deduction on your next BMW purchase, and your points expire after 7 years.

So, unless you make enough money that you don't need the $5000, or you're putting your business expenses on your card, you can kiss that $5000 off your next BMW goodbye.

You can goto some hot chick at the cash register at the mall, flash out your BMW card, and let her know that you drive a hot car... Maybe she'll go out with you!

Wait, so all you need to do is charge 5k on the card to be eligible for 5k off of a BMW purchase? Hell, with rent and bills, I could get that done in about two months.

I have a Capital One photo card. They had a special for certain customers, and that special allowed the cardholder to send Cap.One a gif/jpg, and they would place it on the card. As a result, one of my Cap.One cards has my Mystic Blue 330i on it. I actually like the card, but I rarely use it.

I received an email about this from BMWFS and it sounds like this refers only to lease/loan for a new car, but not buying outright, so it's not quite the deal one would hope for since you will incur interest fees and so forth. I wonder if they would penalize you if you took out the loan, got the 5K discount, then paid it off soon thereafter.

Long story short, absolutely not.

Why anyone would even charge 1 cent on it, I can only guess it's because they like to flash the roundel.

These cards prey upon those who cannot do math very well. It's like saying you get 1/4% on the first $1500, 1/2% on the 2nd $1500, and 1% after that. You'd be surprised how confused some people get when you ask them how much rebate do you get on a $3397.94 charge?

I am using the card for business purchases which could be up to $25K a month... The way I figgured it, I could use the points to cover the extra miles that I know I am going to have since I love driving the car!
For anyone who is using it for personal use you have to spend sooo much in order to make it worthwhile, get a Discover and get 1% CASH back on all purchases.

I have had one for a few years. I use mine a ton so the points add up pretty quickly. Plus it has a super interest rate if I ever do leave a balance on it. I used to redeem the points for free oil changes/service but lately have just used it for BMW merchandise/cases of oil/filters, etc. I will say that not all the offerings from BMWNA are the same. The recent offerings/perks don't seem to be as good as they used to.

or just get a new lease.
It's automatically given to you when you apply for the car

like others have said, the cashback portion of it sucks BUT you'd be surprised that BMW is considered a leader in post sales experience in the financial arm and that MB and other luxury brands are trying to copy BMW with these types of strategies.

You do not need to spend five million dollars to get the 5k off. The ratio is 10,000 points = 100 dollars off maximum of 5000 = 500,000 points. Standard card is two dollars for one point. Which is 1 million dollars. Which still sounds like alot of money , but you need to consider you can accumulate points over a period of years.

You can also upgrade it to the 50 dollar annual fee card which you get even point for dollar which cuts that in half.

So the initial math was off by 500%. More if you spend the 50 bucks to upgrade it. Keep in mind with this and all rewards cards, this is money you are spending anyways that you get STUFF for. I don't know where the notion comes from that you just kinda give away all this money to the card company to redeem a small rebate and have nothing to show for it. Anyone with a family of 3 or more can attest how quickly you can spend money just feeding everyone. Many cards have better conversion %'s but the points expire more rapidly. It's not going to be for everyone, but you can benefit from using it.

I have it and the only advantage is its the lowest rate visa I've ever had. Still nowhere close to my Amex though.
