Run in with an RX-8

I'll keep this short and sweet.

This guy took off from the light we were at and I knew immediately he was going to try and cut me off to get to a turn that I was already in the lane for. I heard the rotary wind out and he started to creep into my lane while I was still next to him  . That got me irritated so I floored it and shot by him. I slowed down for a second and gave the driver a Mutombo finger wag as I went by. He was forced to get behind me before making the turn. He took off again as we got on the highway, where I proceded to leave him in the dust. I saw him give up after about 5 seconds.

Sorry about street racing, but I've always hated RX-8's and this guy had it coming.

Do you hate RX8's because they are more of an ultimate driving machine than anything BMW currently offers?

He is moronic to attempt a race as torque is certainly not considered a strong point in the car.

You also just substantiated the BMW stereotype. Congratulations.

I hate to burst the bubble on your illogical attempt at psychology but the reason I hate RX-8's is nothing close to your idiot deduction. I hate them because I used to own an S2000 and I think alot of the styling of that car they ripped off of Honda's design. Along with the inferior performance it provides for the price, I have no reason to like it.

So basically, your retarded.

Did you check if the driver was on cell phone? A lot of drivers are distracted by cell phone these days. Also, in Cali half of them don't have insurance... damn illegals

I don't think so. But if he did, he didn't have it to his right ear, that's all I saw of him.

Yeah, I had some very brief fun with a younger kid in an RX8 about 2 weeks ago; I say very brief fun b/c like the OP's encounter, my "spirited driving" also only lasted about 20 sec. when I got ~ 1/4 mi. ahead of him (and yes, he was going full steam)...those RX8's might be light and great in the twisties, but they've got no TQ whatsoever.

WOW, Your SUPER COOL! Wish I could be as cool as you...

You create a situation that's negative, deliver a rude gesture, and to top it off, you run away like a little girl... Real COOL... You the MAN!

Got a mentality better suited to a Civic...

Um...exactly which bits of the s2000 styling did Mazda "rip off"? The front - no. The back - no. The sides - no. The 4 doors- no. The 4 seats - no. The interior -no. The rotary engine- no. The roof- no. In fact about the only things RX8 has in common with s2000 are the fact that it's Japanese, it's quite light, it's RWD, it revs high and it has no torque. Oh, and it comes in red too.

Still it's great to see you can still get major thrills by driving your 335i in a straight line and "killing" a car which costs around US$10,000 less, has far less power and a fraction of the torque. That's talent Impressive stuff!!

Just be grateful he didn't get you on the twisties....
