Laptop DVD Drive problem; need geek/nerd
So my dvd/cdr drive on my laptop was not working right; so i found out that that metal/gold ribbon thing that attaches the dvd drive to the computer had a long crack in it. What happened was that when the dvd drive slides out..that ribbon kind of hangs a bit underneat the bottom and apaprently when i slid the dvd drive back into the computer, it got caught a bit between the computer and dvd drive, got pinched and put a crack in it.
Question: What is that ribbbon called? And is it something i can replace easily or is it gonna be computer specific? |

What you can do is find the hardware manual for your Toshiba laptop, and you should be able to identify the cable that you cracked. Are there broken traces in this cable ? If so, that is most likely your problem.
Good Luck.

Look up the manuals for the U400 series. Perhaps you'll find something that covers the U405.

Take the old cable out - there should be a Toshiba part number on it - will read something like A000023120
Search for that number because different companies call it by different names or abbreviations. I would call it an optical drive cable. Good luck. |
