They're running out of ideas. These are much worst than Porsche's funky "overlapping" pipes.

Its gonna be competition yeah, but not for performance reasons. I dont particularly like Lexus V-8 engines. They usually dont add up to other manufactuers. It is still gonna be fast, yes, but coming close to the new M3, doubt it.

Not bad, not a big fan of the Gold rims though, then again it's a prototype so anything goes

Lexus V8 = Toyota V8 = vast racing experience (F1, JGTC...)

Toyota may not be a good sports car maker, but they are definitely a good engine builder.

I liked the IS300, too bad they messed it up. Who cares how fast it is if it only goes in a straight line and isn't fun to drive.

Alot of their V-8s lack power and horses in comparison to other companies. for example take the GS430 in comparison to the M45, E500 and 550i. It is very much slower and lacks power compared to the rest. But I give it to them, if any company can make it happen, its Toyota. They do have a new 4.6L V-8 that should really put them back where they belong in power comparisons.

I've been told by a few IS350 owners that when you turn off VDIM (traction control systems) the car becomes a whole different animal. They say the chassis dynamics are excellent. And this is coming from an avid autocrosser/track racer.

Lexus said their goal with VDIM was to make a system that was very transparent. I think they did their jobs too well, because now it's so transparent, that when the car doesn't handle well, people can't tell it's the electronic nannies that are causing it, and they think it's a crappy chassis.

Lexus is listening though, and they are now including a VDIM off button in the 2007 model year cars. It will be interesting to see auto journalists revisit the car with the VDIM defeated.

But if Lexus is stupid enough to release this kind of car without a proper manual transmission, then there's no hope for them.

I'm pretty curious why Lexus only offers the manual 6-speed on the IS250 and not the IS350...if the IS350 continues to lack the 6-speed I doubt the IS500 will be offerred a 6-speed manual tranny.
