Bro's car got robbed
So he was having dinner with his friend not too far from where we live at a friend's restaurant.
He got there at 8:02pm the car was gone by 8:11pm The security footage showed that some dude walked out of an alley, unlocked his X6, turned it on, backed up and drove off... The satellite tracking shit (boomerang) can't trace the car.. it is gone the cops can't find it... he was parked too far to be able to ID the thug, and no one in the restaurant noticed/realized since you know, there was no forced break in. Insurance takes 15 days to claim it a total loss... BMW says it is impossible for someone to just walk up and unlock a BMW like that, and my brother presented them with both keys. Apparently it could have been an inside job and BMW is "investigating" however we feel it is BS. *sigh* what a shitty week /endrant the damn thing was a few months old.. I didn't bother taking out the plates cuz well yeah.. This happened in Montreal on Nun's Island.. if you guys spot him, beat the shit out of him for us! Thanks

DAMN. Sorry to hear that, dude. But it sounds to me like you won't be seeing that on the street because it'll be stripped down. Hopefully that's not the case but that's what came to mind

whoever did it were PROFESSIONALS to get a new BMW, so the car is long gone and in pieces before you could file the report.

wow thats crazy. i had my previous e90 broken into twice downtown but never got the whole car stolen. i this this is the first time i've heard of a new bmw getting stolen in montreal... thats crazy!
so bmw assist and boomerang couldnt do anything? i also have boomerang. a red x6M is going to be pretty rare. i dont think we'll be seeing it driving around town but i'll keep an eye open anyway. any marks or special details that i can use to tell if its ur bro's car?

Remember a while back someone on here posted that it's possible to break into a BMW in like 15 seconds?? We never knew what it was but perhaps that's what happened. That sucks though man. I hope he gets things resolved soon.

the front grill is completely black (he got the chrome changed to black 1month ago) yeah, boomerang and BMW assist did nothing for it. :/ they have jammers apparently.. the worst part is it happened in Nun's Island.. like how remote! Quote:
so unless a freak accident happens and they catch it, we're not hoping for it.. My bro got over it.. he'll have my E93 that's coming in in a few days to drive, so it isn't that bad while he waits for whatever will happen. We're waiting for our sales guy to come back to see what options we have. The car was a lease.. Maybe 6 months old?

The antenna is in the sharkfin. If you want the car to be untraceable (with no radio either) all you have to do it pull it off.
That's why lojack is better. They choose one of 20 or so standard hiding spots on a car to hide the tracker in, and none of them are as exposed and easy to rip off as the sharkfin. Better yet, get lojack AND the BMW security system. The BMW assist locator might be good for dealing with a dumbass criminal, but crafty (and successful) ones already know this. Also, I'm really sorry about the car. This sounds ridiculous, I'm wondering how they could have possibly done it... Somehow copying your key electronically, maybe?
