I believe SCOTT has spoken of this, yes. There will also be an M135i sedan (F52) and M135i hatchback (F40, F41) as well (neither of which have a US release scheduled, the latter of which having almost zero chance).

Note that ynguldyn mentioned recently that the X2 M35i would not make it in time for the initial release, but should join later (probably by the end of 2018). It is a good bet that the X1 M35i would come at that time as well.

Yeah, I see it now: madness with models across the board getting engine mods for next summer, many with explicit mentions of RDE.

(US readers: don't worry if you don't understand, this is a crazy European thing - for now.)

Did they strike a deal with McLaren to use the M840T? Or at least a less extreme BMW-ified derivative?

If not, then someone should. That engine is too good to be relegated only to supercar duty. It would be perfect in sport sedans and sport coupes. They are 100hp ahead of VAG and Mercedes, even trumping Ferrari. I predict they hit 200hp/L by early next decade without hybrid assist.

Nope. Good old N63. And still!

I promise to be back with specifics soon.

That must mean the M8 is either cancelled or will be 650hp plus

I have reworked the top post trying to show the exact sequence of market introductions, to the best of my knowledge.

Any info or guess on the specs of upcoming G20 M340i? I would suspect no less than 355hp like the X3 M40i, but I'm wondering if BMW might surprise us with a little more, say 380? Bearing in mind that Genesis G70, debuting next week, will be added competition, and also the refreshed C43 might be pushing close to 400 hp (the current E43 already have 396hp, I believe)

Is the G70 going to have more motor than the Kia Stinger? Because the latter is certainly no speed demon with the 365hp 3.3L V6.

According to ynguldyn's recent info, the next B58 is the O1 which won't be here until 2019. It's still possible that the current M0 will get even more power, but I don't know how likely that really is. My expectation is 355hp for the G02 X4 M40i, G20 M340i, and G29 Z4 M40i next year. We shall see.

The G70 pre-release info suggest it will be quicker than the Stinger to 100 (4.7 vs 4.9 I believe) Not sure if it will get more power than the Stinger, but it will be lighter, so that may explain the faster time. I've seen lots of people suggesting BMW always underrate their HP, especially in their straight 6 engines, is that really true?
Two weeks ago, I took delivery of a '17 340 with the MPPSK, after driving C450 AMG for almost 2 years. The C450 wasn't slow, but the BMW just feel a little more urgent, especially the mid range passing power. I would love the G20 with 380hp (wishful thinking, maybe), not that the car would be under-powered at 355, but just for bragging rights.

Even if that happens, don't brag too confidently - the MY2018 Jaguar XE S already gets 380hp. Also, make sure that no Infiniti Q50 Red Sport owner is within earshot.

I kid, but what I am saying is, in some respects, chasing power numbers is a losing proposition. It's how the car actually performs that matters.

I may have missed it, but any info on when the G20 will be unveiled? Next March in Detroit?

You're close. G02 will obviously match G01. As for G2x, non-M Performance B58M1 will only slightly increase the power to 335hp, which means that M340i/M440i/Z4 M40i B58M1 should also end up with just a bit more than X3 M40i. 360-370 would be my best guess.
