Start/Drive off at idle (without accel) on first and second gear?
Question for all E9x w/N54 owners that drive a 6MT - are you able to start and drive off ( have enough torque) on first and second gear without any input to gas (accelerator?)
Of course, just for comparing apples to apples, assume level road (no steep incline). My car just sputters and dies on first (and second of course) -ES |

Erm, I've never tried starting from a stop in 2nd, especially with no gas. But yes, it goes just fine in 1st with no gas, you just have to have a good feel of the clutch.

The car's set to idle at 700-900 RPM. If you're gentle enough with the clutch, the engine computer will apply the gas for you--it'll try to keep the idle at 700-900.

I have the heavier e93 and I'm able to start in 1st without any gas. Just really slow letting off the clutch. Then I can creep in 1st without adding any gas.
I'm pretty sure 2nd will not work. |

can release the clutch in 1st or 2nd gear (more slowly in 2nd) and it will easily lurk forward. its also possible then to just keep changing gears all the way til 6th gear, and it will be rolling at around 55kph without tuching the throttle once
