Why does Kuni BMW have so many new 2018 vehicles left unsold?

Is it normal to have so many unsold older models on the lot for so long? The picture is just a small sample of what they have.

This is a common trend with many auto manufacturers. A lot of amazing cars for a great 10-15k sometimes 20k discount. Leftovers 2018

Check out the Alfa QV, Corvette Gran Sport/Z06, C63s and plenty of M3 CS's all for a great discount.

I honestly think they all produce too many for the market and they end up sitting on the lot for somebody else to grab at cost.

Even the 991.2 they over did it Porsche and they will be a bubble. I lease this car in 2017 and still have it and they are pushing the older 991.2 for a new lease instead of the 992 and you can't even get a base no more so I figure Porsche is cutting production.

It's a great time to buy a car

No, but I notice the dealership is in Portland. Do you live in Portland?

If I lived in Portland, I wouldn't want to use an M3 for a weekender let alone for a daily, which is what most people use them for. Too much rain and not enough sun in PNW.

Yep. I rarely see M3's of any year. I did see a really nice Frozen Blue E92 M3 two months ago, and have seen a MWM E92 M3 with splitters every now and then.

Cheers,
Merlin

We see plenty of F8x up here in Seattle. Way more than E9x M3 I'd say.

Prices of the F80 have really come down lately

Well the weather certainly puts a damper on things in the winter. But there are some terrific driving roads throughout the PNW and a whole lot less traffic than in other areas. Plus I find it nice to actually have a fairly rare car in comparison to all the trucks, Subarus and such.

Good to know there are active members representing the PNW. Would have been nice to see more at Leavenworth this year.

They most likely produce based on plant capacity and plant utilization. Before switching to a new model year, they need to cover fixed manufacturing costs, thus it's better to overproduce and discount leftovers, rather than slow/stop production of a model year if they are not at the time to begin a new production run. I suspect a very very large chunk of their unit costs in car production are fixed costs, thus, even a 20% off MSRP sale is going to be better than incurring those costs without capitalizing them into inventory
