I actually went by the dealership and spoke with the owner/manager and a few SA's. He actually offered to build and order a vehicle I'd be interested in to add to his lot if I ended up not being interested after having seen or driven it.

That's kind of SOP with a lot of the dealers here, they list their entire inventory including what has been allocated and assigned a VIN even if it hasn't arrived yet. What's even more shady is Ford dealers taking customer ordered Mavericks and adding $20,000 to the MSRP in markup on arrival, and when the customer refuses, they sell it to someone who will actually pay $47,000 on a $25,000 econo pickup. Or the dealership just outright selling a customer ordered car right out from under them to the highest bidder. The BMW dealer here (the only one in the state), doesn't add markup to most of it's vehicles at least, and service is fairly priced and good.

Most of the other brands dealers here are absolutely r*ping people on both new and used car prices, with the exception of Toyota (which is probably why they can't keep anything in stock).

I was actually originally considering a VW Taos SEL, but after "negotiating" it only came out to a few thousand less than the X1 with M Sport and Premium Package. VW was adding on $4,500 in mandatory "dealer installed accessories" (tint, all weather mats, and paint sealant) and $4,000 in markup on top of that.

Latest update from my CA is that there is a Retail Block in the US until 11/5. No sales on any 2023 X1 prior to that. Bummer for those of use whose cars have arrived, three weeks wait.

Is it simply to address the stop delivery orders on most of our cars? Could they're be another reason?

Mine is still stuck in Quality Check. It’s been stuck in that status for almost a month now. Bummer.

Ours came out of production last week, clear of any stop-sale orders. Transported to the port and is now waiting for a ride across the ocean. We will see if it is shipped across the Atlantic to wait until the sales stop to be lifted or if it stays in port for three weeks.

Wonder if they will ship to our dealership, so we can take delivery after November 5th. I do know it is coming into Port New Jersey and with us being located in MA, the truck time after the VPC should be short.

Mine got switched to In Transit this morning. It was sitting at the port for at least 3 weeks. None of my campaign TSBs were addressed either, so it will get done when it arrives at the port or my dealer

Glad to hear that they are in transit. I hoped mine would hitch a ride with your cars, but I guess you've been waiting in port longer and it's really a moot point if they can't be delivered until 11/5.

Yeah I'm not expecting to get my car until after 11/5. Especially since no TSBs have been addressed as of yet

For all of you with a vehicle At the Port (or later stages), what was the length of time it took for the status of your vehicle to make it from "Production Begins" until "Dispatched From Factory"?

Thanks.

I think mine was closer to three. Production was competed on Sep. 15 and it was placed on a vessel and departed the port on Oct. 12. Should arrive in the US on Oct. 24.

Mine entered production on September 28th and finished production on October 12th. It was dispatched from the factory on October 13th and arrived at the port today (October 17th). Our order was placed on August 4th, so if it arrives at the dealership and is sold on November 5th, it will be 12 weeks from order to delivery.

Not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but I was scheduled to begin production during week 43 and noticed this morning that my status had reverted back to "order received". I called genius and was told that I'm still scheduled for that week, but that the updated status on the tracker may mean that it will be delayed and that I should follow up in a couple days... From what I've seen, this is not an uncommon circumstance for other cars, but I haven't yet seen this posted for the u11.

For reference, I placed my order around 9/8, and was scheduled for production on 9/26. The status reverted back today on 10/17, so I had been scheduled for 3 weeks until it changed.

Interesting...I ordered on 9/19, mine just flipped to entered production yesterday (10/16). What did trim and options did you order?

I'd expect it to be delayed. Mine was supposed to go into production this week, and got pushed to the 51st week. I'm the oddball that would rather wait, though. I want that blue bay lagoon.

FWIW, I have been tracking some VINs which dealers put on their websites. One of them was in “In Transit” before it was reverted to “At the port”.

I have been reading this forum for a while and thought I should share my timeline in case anyone would find it helpful.

I am on the US West Coast.
9/24: I ordered the vehicle with my dealer. They gave me the Production code. It was a priority 1 - Customer Sold order. The tracking was in “scheduled for production” at the time. I was promised that the vehicle would be delivered in December.
Around 10/3: I emailed and called BMW Genius. Both told me that the production was scheduled for week 42. But one said that week 42 was the week of 10/10 while the other said that it was the week of 10/17.
10/14: the status changed to “Production begins” on the tracking web site. The prodDate was 10/27.
10/21: Status changed to "Exterior body assembly begins". The prodDate changed to 10/31.
10/25: "In the paint booth".

Hopefully mine follows your timeline closely. I ordered 9/16, but late in the day, so my order was confirmed received by 9/19. Just checked on my account that the order flipped to "production begins" yesterday, so I'm assuming it'll be going to QA around 10/30. I was told by my dealer I should receive it late December/early January. I'm in Honolulu, Hawaii, so I expect there is an additional week or so of transit time from the west coast before it arrives for PDI at the dealer. My lease ends on 12/17, so I'm probably looking at driving my beater for up to a month. Definitely don't want to extend my lease if I don't have to.
