When taking creatine-based supplements
I just got a weird burning sensation after getting a pump from doing a specific workout. I've been finishing up my workouts with a basic forearm exercise where I use two dumbells and hold them down by my sides, repeatedly curling them followed by a set of arm twists (not so important in regards to my following question: I've progressed to using 35s doing two sets of 20 curls followed by 20 twists). Anyways, this seems to give my arms a ridiculously massive pump to the point where it burns and my arms literally swell up (as creatine often does, but it almost seems exaggerated compared to other pumps).
Is this healthy? The only reason I work my forearms is because they're pretty long, and I don't want big upper arms with small forearms (I also do hammer curls and other workouts that attack the forearms as a secondary muscle, of course). The vascularity kind of freaks me out when I see my veins starting to bulge. It's like a serious itching feeling along my veins. It dies down after about 5 mins. I take cellucor M5.

Wow I forgot about this thread. No I made it specifically because of my forearm workouts. I experience like a major burning pain in my left forearm where a big vain running along the bottom side swells like a mother. I know what creatine does. I've never felt it like this though.
It's not a big deal, I've gotten used to it.

You should prob cut it down to every other day .. Forearm muscles feel fast - you use them everyday - kinda like calve muscles ...
Idk - just my 0.02

That's what I'm getting at. It's not the creatine! It's the NO a.k.a. Nitric Oxide.
Nitric oxide is also used in heart medicine. It is a "vasodilator" which means i widens your blood vessels. The supplement you're taking has creatine stacked with NO, but the effect you're feeling i from the NO ... Most likely the exercise you're doing with your arms down each side holding some weight pushes the arteries that transport blood back from the arms shut, and due to the widened blood vessels you get a sick pump. If it hurts there's a good probability it's not healthy. I can only advice that you do a little research on the supplements you take - otherwise you'll end up doing more harm than good to your body. Personally I think that unless you're a pro - some protein, creatine and multivitamins should be all you need. The rest comes from a correct diet, a good training routine and enough sleep. Fact: Arnold Schwarzenneger trained abs, calves, and forearms every day. It makes sense because you use those muscles every day much more than the others so they're used to the abuse.

After 8 years of working out consistently I found these extra supplements are quite pointless.
Stick with a good protein and call it a day. The creatine just makes you look bloated and the NO just gives you a pump look (eventually) after dozens of pills a day. The latter supplements have a marginal aid if any in your actual lifting performance. Take it from me, Ive been doing it natural for some time now and put up large weight compared to my actual body weight. (not trying to brag). For instances when i was at 160 lbs body weight my max bench was 305lbs. All natural. Thats what 8 years of training the right way, the natural way will do. Granted a few illegal supplements can get someone there a lot faster... There are some guys I know that are big, and look good, and are stacking many supplements. It probably cost them an extra $100-200 a month in supplements to keep up. If that is all good with you, then so be it... but in the end I think its a waste of money. Different strokes for different folks. Thats my .02 |

Yeah my co-worker loves to bring him up. Get enough rest and diet properly and you can murder certain parts of your body every day of the week.

He's definitely proportioned to the point for his size, though getting that big isn't my ideal.
Btw, kinda getting a nasal drip when I take this stuff. I'm not railing creatine I swear.

I've never heard of a nasal drip before. Maybe it's from something unrelated? |

Not sure how long you have been using this stuff for - but maybe its your bodies way of saying enough! .. Ive never seen you before - but maybe a tan would work! .. (Im sorry, just my silly humor again) .. I mean if your going for looks - a tan def shows the cuts and form well .. (all I can think about right now was the last episode of Jersey Shore, when Vinny got a spray tan because he said it made him look bigger!!!)

Yeah it's always good to have knowledge. I'm not a big believer in creatine supplementation.
