Canon Rebel Question
I just got my first camera. Wasn't sure how much I'd use it so I got the low-end Canon, the Rebel XS. I have a question though, the tech at Best Buy said I can use the LCD to shoot images, that I didn't have to look through the viewfinder. I can't seem to find any mention of that in the manual so I was wondering how I do that. I hope she didn't confuse that with the Nikon that we were comparing it to.

Live view can be a useful feature, but it drains the battery.

The tech was talking about Live View. It doesn't work like a point and shoot camera but you can use it in a similar way (to check for focus and framing the pix). To activate it make sure you turn it ON in the menu tabs/table and just click the "SET" button when you want to use it. I'm not 100% sure about this but I would be careful not to move the camera around so much when using Live View. My thinking is that because the mirrors are flipped and locked up, moving the camera around to much (shake, vibration, rapid movements, etc.) is not good for it.

Ah ok. Once you guys said live view I was able to look that up and found it. Turns out it can't be used in one of the "Basic Modes," their presets, which is why I couldn't find it. Thanks a lot guys.
