The latter, since it will share its UKL platform.

I will stick to two door rwd. The m235i is super fun to drive. Minis are not quite as much fun and they are more difficult to repair.

Yup, I can see Ferrari, Porsche and McLaren all switching to the dynamically superior FWD soon

What I don't understand is why BMW didn't just keep the Active Tourer and this New GC as part of the 1 series line up as this is also due to lose its unique selling point. Conceptually, it doesn't sit neatly to have FWD and RWD in the same model line.

The fact that BMW said 8/10 cats didn't know their one series (of which most were probably a baby 116d) was rear wheel drive is a failure of the marketing and sales staff, not a reason to end the fantastic RWD 125d/i and M140i. Might as well just buy a Golf R next time as there will be Hobson's choice in this segment.

Of course BMW could be really bold (but they won't) and build their hot hatches on the current 2er RWD platform

I know, I know, and of course you're right, so real enthusiasts wanting the absolute best undiluted drive (in a compact) will be forced to buy a 2 coupe! But as a great daily driver, on road only, this will be interesting as it's such a nice size and reasonably practical!

Ahh the model everyone has been asking for. Let's hope they give it the right engine and drivetrain.

I wonder how different the dimensions are to the E36? Too small for me now but interested to see it.

Would have been nice if he was cheesing that much due to amazing driving dynamics but pretty sure he's doing like 2mph right there

So a 2.0L is now a 35i, love it. The erosion continues.

I say we'll have a 390i in 10 years powered by a 2 cylinder 0.9L engine

Every time I get optimistic that bmw might get their head out of their arses and make a RWD compact sedan again , mkoesel comes and kicks sand in my face so I figured i would invite him back around for ya.

My BMW wishlist

1- M2 further progress - with 6MT
2- M2 Gran coupe with RWD and 6MT
3- curious about X3M vs X3M40

Either way .. my future bmw buying is looking pretty bleak, because I'm not buying any of the current products.
