I guess I haven't seen anything that you consider special. I've seen all types of Lambos, Ferraris, Porsches, a few Bugatti's, Bentleys, etc.
Question, Sedan_Clan: I'd you don't mind saying, I know what city you live in but what city/ neighborhood do you work in?
I work in L.A. County, and it's a large area near Whittier, Pico Rivera, etc.
Lots going on down there. lol
Tell me about it. Nonstop gang nonsense.
Never lived there, but did live in South Central, Echo Park, Atwater Village, Silverlake, Hollywood. All over L.A.

South Central, Echo and Silverlake pop off. Hollywood, however, is full of eccentrics who take designer drugs and use the date rape drugs (…oh, and the Russian mafia thugs too).

Was in Hollywood in the early 70s. LSD, magic mushrooms, Southern Comfort, The Rolling Stones, are some things that come to mind from that era of my life.

I heard our chief detail results of monitoring cameras on certain high-impact streets. Posted 35mph. He told council less than 1% were in the citeable range of +15 :

Rollo retired from the Sacramento Police in 2016. A great picture nonetheless.

I find that hard to believe. Additionally, a person doesn't need to be 15-over to cite. Even 'allowing' 10-over the prima facie speed limit is a courtesy.

I feel like people going UNDER the speed limit should be thrown in prison.

It's quite annoying absent inclement weather or other relevant considerations.

I figured chief just didn't want to assign an officer to that street. The report he produced from the monitoring camera did show less than 1% going over that limit, but I would venture a guess that the report has parameters that can be adjusted

Baring inclement weather pull them over for distracted driving when they can't keep up

Sedan_Clan, how often (if you do) pull over people for going too slow, say in the right lane?

I think that's more CHP, dude. There's no rules on city streets like that, lol.

Sedan can't be responsible for all the idiocy in our state. He's only one man.

Been to Miami many times on vacation but the first time I drove from the Best side of the state, I come trucking along off Alligator Alley top down about 80mph and I literally crapped my pants. I was about to pull over, put the top up and wrap myself in bubble wrap. Talk about a drastic difference....
I grew up driving in NYC and that was like Preschool compared to Miami outside of the Everglades

Yes Miami is very challenging but it’s doable. Avoid the road rage if you can but many people drive w/o a license/insurance/registration/windshield lol.

Well yes and no! If somebody is impeding traffic on surface streets, I still might pull them over.

See above.

P.S. The CHP isn't the only department known to ticket others. It depends on the politics and/or the egregiousness of the violation. Also consider gone are the days of patrolling without body cameras. It was easier to give breaks to both citizens and other LEO's before BWC's.

I wanted out of patrol. Sure, when I changed departments I had/have to put in patrol time, but there are a zillion jobs on the Sheriff's department that have nothing to do with patrol.

Sedan_Clan, how often (if you do) pull over people for going too slow, say in the right lane?
I think that's more CHP, dude. There's no rules on city streets like that, lol.

Sedan can't be responsible for all the idiocy in our state. He's only one man.
Well yes and no! If somebody is impeding traffic on surface streets, I still might pull them over.

I grew up driving in NYC and that was like Preschool compared to Miami outside of the Everglades
Yes Miami is very challenging but it's doable. Avoid the road rage if you can but many people drive w/o a license/insurance/registration/windshield lol.

I was for 7 years.

We wouldn't talk to him if he was CHP. Nobody likes CHP. They give other cops tickets. Hell, they even give firefighters tickets
See above.
Was. You've been redeemed?
I wanted out of patrol. Sure, when I changed departments I had/have to put in patrol time, but there are a zillion jobs on the Sheriff's department that have nothing to do with patrol.
We only talking about CHP, man. No issues with patrol just highway patrol, lol. They ruthless is all.
