Mark and Ed, I'm so jealous of your super supermoon shots. We had so much cloud in the East, just nothing worked, saw a brief glow on the horizon and that was it !!
Looking south and west about 15 minutes after sunset, whilst setting up (more in hope than anger) for the moon, I did get this sunset shot.

Just After Sunset by Alan Butterfield, on Flickr

Lots more great shots from everyone on here.

^^^I'd take the gorgeous sunset shot over my run-of-the-mill moonshot any day, Alan. Superb.

Agreed, great shot Alan.

Steve, in regards to shooting the moon, you have to use manual control, it's far too bright and will fool the camera's meter every time. For a full moon, I always use f8 and 1/1000 as a starting point and then play with the shutter speed. I'm usually at ISO 400, but last night the moon was so freaking bright I pulled it down to ISO 200. Also, the moon is indeed a very small target, so massive cropping is applied to all my shots. That shot above is from a full frame 5DIV and cropped from some roughly 6000 pixels down to 2500 or so, even with a 700mm lens setup.

I had to work through the super-moon unfortunately or I'd have tried my hand at it. I have to agree with these other guys, that sunset is stellar. At least setting up wasn't for not!

More butterflies here in Texas.

Another one from yesterday evening. An hour after sunset and after I'd given up all hope of seeing the moon.

I usually shoot whenever possible at ISO 100 but there are occasions it's not possible. Up on a ladder in a dark warehouse hand holding the camera. This one was shot at ISO 640.

This is a proper re-edit of my most popular image, Sunrise of Fire, accurately titled "Sunrise of Fire Mark II"

When I shot it, back in Dec 2012, the 6D was still being shipped to pre-order customers, and the RAW files could not be edited in LR or PS yet. So I posted it as-is. I had used 3 GND filters which burned the tree in the foreground, and also added a magenta cast to what was already a magnificent, colorful sunrise.

This version is my attempt to remove the magenta cast as much as possible without affecting the integrity of the image, and also to blend the foreground more realistically and remove the unnatural darkening of the GND filters.

For anyone interested to reference the original shot, here's the link:

I hope to get some shots of some turkeys here soon! I'll be eating one and stalking some in the next few days if all goes well with the weather here in central Texas.

Meantime, another butterfly shot. This little bugger didn't want to slow down.
