I wonder if I can score cheaper M3 rims when all the OEM owners upgrade to those sex-machine wheels

Glad I held out, still love my 666's but I'd upgrade to the 19/20 Matte Black finish in a heart beat. Would look good with my TZB/Black combo.

Not really

No that is nothing Nike what I am saying actually. The trend is manufacturers are selling genuine upgrades to customers with added advantage of retaining warranty and quality.

BMW calls it a performance exhaust so I expect it should add some performance.

True.

True but sad as I would have liked to keep my car under a genuine parts coverage. Thanks for your advice.

BMW tell us straight up that there are no performance gains with an exhaust and BTW the "line" is call BMW M Performance not the exhaust.

Q: Any power gains from the M Performance Exhaust?
A: Few gains should be expected just from changing axle back exhaust on a turbocharged BMW because 1) the main restrictions are in the two catalytic converters, which are retained with an axle-back exhaust and 2) no gains should be expected without remapping the ECU because the ECU is always correcting, so for example if the car loses backpressure, the ECU will reduce power.

You are trying to explain something but you miss the point I tried to make. In simple and plain terms:

I expected BMW M to produce a performance part that has more substance or function than adding noise. I don't need a lesson on why the exhaust cannot produce more power, thank you.

Has anyone ever done a before and after dyno run? Just because BMW doesn't claim any power gains doesn't mean that there aren't any. Also, the muffler is titanium on the MPE, so you do get some weight savings.

So back to my first response the car is "fully" tuned there is no more power to be made. Unless you start bolting on aftermarket parts and tunes.

I'm not aware or any BMW M Performance parts like that but of course I could be wrong. So maybe we should call BMW Marketing and tell them to correctly rename the line as BMW M Sound and Cosmetic Enhancements.
