I can't be president anymore seeing how I jumped ship to a corvette. Rather have a German made car with sound that matched. Instead of the Honda sound of the f80.

Looks like you are going to have to deal with my crappy American made car with its glorious v8 rummble in front of you at the track when it's not overheating of course.

It is a shame, because in reality the F8X is the second best sounding ///M there.
He didn't trash the F8x. It did that all on its own.

E9X people can hold onto to the S65's for the sound. That is fine. The F8X is more than its exhaust note and as a whole package, is in every way a better car. It just has a "different" exhaust note. What did you expect, it to sound EXACTLY like the S65? At least it makes more torque all the way through the powerband, is 25% more fuel efficient, and isn't as heavy (ie handles better).

I bet these same E9X people will be jumping on the F8X bandwagon in a few years when the current M3/4s start hitting the used car market. This happens with EVERY generation of M car on these forums with people bashing the current gen b/c they have the last gen...so stupid.

The S65 does sound the best of the M3s btw. But if I had to pick my favorite BMW M car exhaust note it would be the S85 V10. Straight up F1 race car sound on a sedan.
Well said!

Redline free revving brings tears to my eyes and blood dripping from my ears lol

The e92 with the check engine light on mine pops on its in the shop being fixed so saddened me to see it being filmed with it on and revved up but wing and custom parts (priorities)

it's all a matter of opinion, but I think the F80 sounds best. I think the stock exhaust sounds great. don't quite understand why everyone hates it? yeah the V8 sounds good, but I'd still take the F80 over it any day. looks and performance over sound any day.

I agree. I like the sound of my stock M4 exhaust. My car, my exhaust, my opinion

See thats the problem i have right there. Its not about picking one or the other.

I bought a new car partly because i was bored with the performance of the E92. when spending 70k new or used. I want a car that is going to be faster, and sound good. the F80 is much faster than the E92, and it looks pretty sexy. but it lacks a good sounding motor.

Its not even a v8 vs v6 thing either, or a turbo vs N/A thing. The F80 to a lot of people simply doesn't sound good for a performance engine. I feel a 4 cylinder turbo STI sounds better, a GTR sounds better, the new 2016 911 carrera turbo 6 sounds better. Then you got AMG with the new 4.0L V8 turbo which sounds pretty cool.
lets face it BMW made a great car with the F80, but it lacks in the sound department when comparing to cars that cost around the same price or more.

when i buy a car i need these three things. (order doesn't mean anything)

-looks
-sound
-performance

just seems weird that so many people would buy a car that they HATE the sound of so badly. if it's that big of a deal, then why get it? seems dumb to complain about it when everyone knew what they were getting. if it's that big of a deal, don't get it. I find it hard to believe that this many people that complain about the sound of this car actually own it. and again, it's all personal taste. I think the F80 sounds great. I own it. I drive it daily. I love it. compared to every single one of those you mentioned, it still sounds great to me. they're all different. they all have "their" sound.

at this point it's like people bought a blue shirt, knowing it was blue, but they don't like the specific blue tone. well, then why'd you buy it? just kinda over the whole topic at this point.

That 11 extra HP will sure blow right on by huh.
Lol, that's cute, you're hanging on to your hp numbers, I've owned both, the f80 is stupid fast when compared to the e92, don't kid yourself.

This from a guy who's sig says he drives a 2006 330xi - that's an E90 chassis genius! Check your photos in your album if you don't believe me.

You mean the extra 70whp and 150wtq that an F80 puts out on a dyno vs an E92? Then yes, watch the F80 blow by.

All that s65 hate just to say the s85 sounds the best?

F80 is a great car but it still sounds like shit.

Is there a way to tune out that horrible burp noise?

To a degree it's understandable as no one likes to call their baby ugly, or in this case, bad sounding.

Having said this, I agree with this order, which happens to be MY and few others' opinions.

The E92 might have plenty of issues such as bearing rods, weight, low torque but one place it doesn't lack in is induction sound and exhaust. So much so that even though I look forward to getting an F80, I have a hard time justifying the wonderful chassis but crappy exhaust/steering, when compared to the E92. The S65 is truly a special motor. Those lucky to have one should cherish each and every mile they put behind the oh-so-wonderful-even-if-a-tad-light-in-dead-center-hydraulic-steering. Do not trade up to an F80.

I'll go now...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
