Vibrations, felt & seen in the steering wheel
Car has been vibrating for a while now, I had my front control arm bushings replaced with the M3 ones due to the previous ones leaking fluid. It improved things, vibrations went from 40-60MPH to 60MPH+. I put my anti-rattle clips back on and moved a bent wheel to the rear axle, it improved things, vibrations arn't as bad anymore but still there at 65MPH+.
One thing to note, I'm running a BMW 189 Wheels square setup, 255x35x18 all around. The two wheels in the front are actually rear 189s from my friends car. I also have 5mm spacers in the front and the wheel has a hard time fitting onto the hub lip as there is very little lip left. Also I've read that the rear wheels have a slightly larger hub mouth thing (yes horrible choice of words). Can someone clear this up? |

I'd also recommend this. It worked for me. If that doesn't work, take it to the mechanic.

Also try and get that bent rim taken care of, you'd be surprised how a bent wheel can affect ride quality. |

Have You installed new front brake rotors? I had a customer with the same complaint, did his own brake job and then the shimmy. Found debris behind the new rotor not allowing it to seat properly. Cleaned and reattached both front rotors and the shake was gone.

Whilst unlikely, the possibility of a damaged tire shouldn't be ruled out.
I was on a trip down to KL last weekend and felt a strong vibration through the car, it felt like a flat tire or a loose rim wobbling off so i pulled over to take a look. Found nothing out of place and tire pressures seemed to be fine, eventually hauled her to a nearby town to get her up on a lift. Found out that I had a bubble bulging from one of the rear tires, had to get it swapped immediately. They only had a used 275/30 on hand which I had no other choice except being stranded without a tire to get me home. I Wouldn't rule out the possibility of tires causing vibration at speeds if all other components are in check. |

I dealt with a vibration for about a year and couldn't get it solved for anything. Eventually I had all 4 wheels checked closely and it turned out every single one was bent (although some did balance). Now the car rides smooth as glass but i wish i had just done the rims the first time around. Before that i did upper and lower control arms, new tires, brakes, steering rack, and strut mounts. Money in the trash haha.

RRT said one has a major bend the other three are very minor and shouldn't be causing problems. They want me to get an alignment and road force balance done... because even though 2 other shops have balanced it before there are alot of weights on the car and it wasn't a road force balance.....
When I'm not getting tickets I'm busy throwing money away... feels like I'm never going to get the LSD and bumpers replaced on the car. |

Since I have the wheels that normally go in the rear, up front (BMW Style 189 18x8.5) is the hole bigger than the hub lip? I've heard/read that before. That could be the cause of the vibration since the wheel doesn't fit snugly onto the hub.

Oh shit, I didn't even see that part, ya you will have to check that, that would definitely be an issie, if it's not snug, you need a hub centric ring.

Did you read the entire post, they said the minor ones arnt anything to worry about and the one that needs repairing is on the rear axle and since then vibrations decreased.
