And I thought the Maverick front facia was butt ugly. Cool truck though.

And can't we just call "Vegan leather" "Vinyl" LOL.

MT got Rivian R1T at around 7200 lbs. so it depend how they define vehicle weight = the actual weight or GVWR (~8,532 for Rivian R1T).

The Edmunds video indicated the RT1 weighed in at 7,500 pounds. Holy crap that is heavy for a midsized pickup truck. I was almost sold on the thing (despite the ugly front end), but Jesus, 7,500 pounds is ridiculous. It's 48Kw/100 miles reflects that weight.

100% agree, not really sure how R1T ended up that heavy, unless they used high-strength Osmium frame ... This makes Tesla Model S Plaid even more impressive. Tesla added a third motor, bigger brakes etc. and actually were able to reduce weight by like 170 lbs. to 4,828 lbs. very impressive.

Better get on the waiting list. I placed my deposit a few months ago and they just told me they expect to build my truck in Q4 of this year. I highly doubt that happens, but we'll see.

Part of the reason is the use of four motors, two on each axle. Plus gearing plus halfshafts plus batteries.

And it's safe to assume that Rivian's body in white engineers may not have the same skills, tools and processes to design efficient lightweight structures that VW's, Ford's and Toyota's engineers do.

First tow test with the R1T. They saw approx 70% range loss while towing (20% charge remaining after only 70 miles), but the charging issues were the bigger disappointment as they couldn't charge back up to over 50%.

Didn't watch video... did the 60 year old Ford end up towing the RT1?
