7,200 miles and Service Due Indicator Illuminated

Our M4 has a production date of 12/14 and the 1,200 mile service was completed on 3/15. I performed an intermediate oil change at 6,500 miles on 12/15. I now have 7,200 miles and the Service light is on.
The dealer insists on doing yet another oil change to satisfy BMW's warranty requirements. I have receipt for an oil change kit that I purchased from them.
Does this seem right?
Sure wish they'd reset the indicator and call it good but nope, they'll be draining perfectly good oil.

Doesn't seem right to me but I have heard of people having problems with the IDrive on this. My dealer told me that everything is based when it senses the oil/brakes/etc needs to be changed rather than milage based.

My SA mentioned that it might have something to do with a year elapsing since the production date which can override the condition based interval? Makes no sense to me.

Neither elapsed since my last service and that's why I'm questioning this.

I think it is correct.

In my old Z435 I drove it less than 10k miles per year so it always had to undergo "low mileage annual oil changes". The process there was that the CBS was not reset, and as a result sometimes there were 2 oil changes close together.

For example, if I drove 9k miles in year 1, I would get an oil change (due to 1 year time limit), and the CBS would still say 5k miles until next oil change after the service. Then in year 2, I would drive the 5k miles, and it would get an oil change as requested by the car (after 5k miles, which is a short interval), and the CBS would then be reset to 15k miles.

I think you did the equivalent of a "low mileage" oil change, so its proper that the CBS was no reset, and now the car is getting its CBS based oil change as requested.

^exactly. The cbs for oil was not reset when you did the 12/15 oil change.

As far as the car knows the last oil change was 3/15 and its coming up on 1 year so you are due.

Thanks guys, for some reason I was anticipating longer time intervals between recommended oil changes.
