I love Kirk & Sweeney. The bottles are too nice to throw away.

Having a dram and you are correct regarding the heavy vanilla taste. A bit sweet put goes down without burning your mouth. Just a nice warm feeling in the tummy.

I give them to my (adult) niece, and she makes artsy-shit with them.

I have yet to convince her to get the bottle up front though, and just let me empty it for her

Garage List
Picked up a couple bottles in Bonaire last week. The Rom Rincon on the left is their local...I got this for my brother.

The Plantation...these hybrid country ones are phenomenal. This on is a 17 year Jamaican. Little pricey at $97 a bottle...but so good.

Rum is interesting, I am a fan and intend to experiment first.

First question, I find EXTREMELY different take on rum from the UK and AUstralia. Bundy rum for example, is COMPELTELY different from anything I have had in north america/cuba/etc.

Rum differs from whisk(e)y significantly in that the distillation is done very differently from island to island and distiller to distiller. It's actually quite interesting.

Every brown rum I have had here has a certain taste to it, i note the difference but I have had maybe half a dozen and there's a certain undertone. If I go home and have a Bundy or say Pusser's rum, it is TOTALLY different. The latter are MUCH stronger, not alcohol but flavour, almost unrecognizable from the other brands. TBH I prefer what we get here, i go home and get offered a bundy and man, can smell it across the room.

I was just out shopping at lunch time and picked-up those two on special. The Bumbu is only 35%.

Yes it is. In Ireland.

I'm currently sipping on the Plantation. Meh... Bar Rum. ( Based on my extensive experience as a teenage barmaid)

I'll see if I can find one this week and get back to you. So far, the Bumbu ticks all the right boxes.
