Per our agreement today is the final day of Sober October.

The terms this time were, obviously no booze, and 15 hours of any kind of exercise. I ended up taking the dog for longer walks then normal, other then that, not much of a change.

This one was super easy, I didn’t really miss booze this month, that being said I had a shit week, and i definitely would have had some drinks last night if it was allowed.

I lost 11.6lbs this month, and generally speaking slept pretty well, for me.

I can recommend trying to take a little time off…if you want to…or don’t.

I've cut down so much to just a can of low alcohol beer a week and a bottle of wine to last over 3-4 days.

I find these things funny. I go 30 days without drink accidently all the time. I guess I'm WAY behind the curve!

I probably should... But MEH. My birthday is in October, Halloween, any day where it hits 5PM, lots of excuses to grab a brew. I do want to cut it out and see how much weight I can lose. Been biking a lot and joined a volleyball league, so I get plenty of exercise, but I should definitely give my liver a break.

I did a version of this 36 years ago before there ever was a Sober October. I was known to drink to excess some times. It's early October, out with the wife, drinking with friends celebrating my 30th birthday. Drinking Corona at the time, had handful of beers and, which I normally wouldn't do, had a couple of shots of Jack Daniels.

Got up the next morning, felt like shit and proclaimed I'll never do that again, to which my wife responded, yeah I've heard that before. Well, it stuck this time and I quit drinking cold turkey. Never touched a drink of alcohol after.

The other part of this, my wife was a nurse at one of the local Hospitals and her boss lived a couple of houses down the street from us. He would go all out for Halloween. Not sure if this was a sign or something but this particular year, he walks down to our house dressed as the grim reaper and brings me a Corona. I actually accepted the beer but didnt want to seem unappreciative, thanked him for the beer and never mentioned that I quit drinking.

That Carona is still in my refrigerator to this day. It's not that I needed a vice or reminder, it just sat there and it was my beer. I must confess, the first few months were a little tough sticking to not drinking, but I gotta be honest I don't miss it. Would still hang out at some of our favorite haunts, just drank soda. Different perspective when you're in a bar sober and watching drunken assholes thinking was I like that.

We keep beer in the fridge for family/guests and typically local craft type which is what my kids like to drink. Have never been tempted in all these years to have a drink even with all the choices of beer out there today.

Not for me - I am healthy in any other way but I'll have a drink or a few when I want to. Resting heart rate of 45, I tie one on twice a week 👻

I always though October was an odd choice of a month to dry out given the spectrum of events going on.

I propose "Dry June". There's little special events going on that month besides Fathers Day which isn't really a drinking event for most people. Except me of course.

I can't disagree, Octoberfest is fun.

January makes the most sense, except for football fans, but its over in time for the Super Bowl.
