Michael Schumacher update

A freak skiing accident a few days before 2014 going off piste to check on a child that had fallen, he went head first into a rock with the camera on top of his ski helmet thought to have caused the main injury. Only a few people have been allowed to see him but not his former manager Wily Webber.

I think the best glimpse we have ever gotten was from the Schumacher doc on Netflix when Mick said something to the effect of "My dad and I would probably have great conversations about racing right now. I would give anything to be able to do that." I'm reading that as confirmation that Michael definitely can't speak and likely has minimal to no ability to communicate. I'm thinking this is a Terry Schiavo type of situation for them. Absolutely heartbreaking.

While I think his family is owed privacy and respect... not giving any "real" update on his condition over the past 10 years for such a public persona is weird if not almost shady.

Why would it be shady? Me thinking of his personality, he is/was very vain and proud, at the top of his game, and it's humiliating for him to be seen as less than fully in tact.

Right now all we have are some tid bits and hearsay on his condition... if he hasn't been seen for 10 years its pretty obvious he is in a vegetive state. What value does it offer to the family to keep this a secret? Outside of consistent speculation? Again, I wouldn't create a video nor does he need to be shown but an official statement should be made.

Agree, it's basically a regurgitation of what everyone has been getting for 10+ years now. Other than the family, no one knows what's really going on and honestly it's none of our business. It's such a sad situation.

It's for the family to decide.
Regarding something like this I can understand why they don't release any information.
Any information will only result in more questions and more media pressure, because it's never enough.
I think that if no information is released, anyone can imagine for themselves how bad it is. Really bad.
Bad enough that he will never speak to the media again or show himself to the media again and that is enough for us to know if you ask me.
There is nothing weird or shady about that imho.

Which is fine if that's their decision... except remember this was a massive public persona for many years around the world so people are curious... the more they are curious, the more nonsense with speculation will be seen in the media.

People are curious? People are vultures with an insatiable appetite for gossip.
The man gave us his all for as long as he could, isn't that enough?
The family wants privacy now after decades in a fish bowl and they deserve it.

again, people just don't read correctly today... i agree with everything you said... most of the public and media probably doesn't... and that will create headaches for this family for years on end until they quell some of the speculation...

If it was up to the 'public' and the media, it would never be enough unless all the medical reports have been published including how much he pees in the morning.
So if it were to be left alone by the media...that is simply not possible.
And that's why Corinna Schumacher is probably so selective who visits him and who not.
The more is released to the public, the more attention and the more distasteful stories. Now, nothing that is speculated can be verified.

I've heard that Jean Todt still visits Michael regularly, and some other people involved with F1 have gotten to see him since the accident.

I fully support the family keeping his condition private. It's their decision and they're doing what they need to do to protect Michael. His condition is none of our business.

This thread is ironic in some parts, from the OP to the video (I didn't bother watching it) to ppl commenting on it. Ofc it's an interesting topic to many ppl, particularly to F1/car enthusiasts here, so to claim otherwise is just being disingenuous.

Sometimes, one has to head things off because the story will develop on its own and one ought to control it rather than the other way around. Image does matters esp in this superficial society, for better or worse. Otherwise, all publicists would be out of work. The way MS' health is being portrayed, or, rather, being described very vaguely, is puzzling. I could understand it when it came to ppl like Stanley Ho as there was some squabbling over inheritance and some ppl wanted to keep his health/whether he was still alive or not tightly under wraps. I personally don't care much/follow it at all, but it does seem they are being so unnecessarily secretive for some unknown reason (which, ofc, is their right, but it's just weird imo).

Yes I read it very clearly, do you think if the family published some photos of him drooling and getting his bum wiped that public would just settle down and leave them to their privacy ?
Not a chance, I'll say it again, insatiable. Anything they say is fuel for the fire, will be taken out of context, then the trolls will build a conspiracy theory's out of it.
The family is doing exactly the right thing, I doubt they give a rats ass about the speculation.

W.Webber is being kept in the dark about M.Schumacher's condition, as he was his manager from the time he started in F1 1991 he is demanding that the code of silence about his recovery should be ended with him finally being allowed to see him.

These videos are just gossip and speculation. Nothing that anyone is saying in them has any meaning, it's all double speak and word salad. I'll speculate for a second though, it seems to me that he is never going to recover in any meaningful way, at least not to the point that his family will allow for public appearances. I understand them wanting to protect his image and the memory people have of him. Frankly, this thread doesn't really give any updates.

There is no speculation about Webber not being allowed to see Schumacher, if you were someones manager for 22 odd years wouldn't you want to find out more??

Lots of people want all kinds of things, but if the family wants to keep it private than that's what they're going to do.
