Why Do iPhones STILL Feel So Much Smoother to Operate?
Note owner here. I just checked out the Note 8. Nice phone, but it still feels "Androidy."
I have tried out the Pixel, Note, galaxy, LG, OnePlus and some Sharp asndroid. Apple has somehow made their device absolutely feel different. When you pick up even the 1 year old iPhone 7, it just feels different. Not only is it faster, its smoother, more stable, and just a better experience. Their custom A series silicon and iOS just seems like a total game changer in speed and fluidity. Battery life is better. RAM management is better, by far. I never thought it would matter so much, but the integration of hardware and software just works. Part of my decision was made with the purchase of the amazing iPad Pro 10.5. Freaking perfect. I am officially switching from Android and will be buying the iPhone 8/X/Pro/Edition when it comes out next Tuesday. Sorry Android, see ya later. |

It's the same reason why a Mac is far superior to a PC.

I finally made the switch at iOS7 which I felt was a turning point for Apple. Since then, I felt iOS was more stable, more secure and an odd thing is I have devices in service over three years (handed down to relatives as I upgrade). I thought not being able to replace the battery would be an issue but isn’t. After a year on every Android I owned all the way back to the OG Droid to my Note 4, I had to replace the battery after about a year.
Apple also controls the updates so anytime there is one and your device supports it, you get it immediately. There’s too much fragmentation on Androids and you stop getting updates after 24 months. I know that is starting to change some with security updates but not wholesale OS updates. iOS is more expensive but you can keep them longer which can defray the overall cost. |

Samsungs Exynos processor is really really good, but they can't sell it here in the US through carriers. Technically they can sell it here but would have to pay some licensing or royalty fee to Qualcomm they did this once in the past. I think you can get an international version of the phones usually later after release. If you look up any comparisons between a Snapdragon Variant and Exynos Variant the Exynos performs better most of the time. Outside of Apples A series chips, most phones in the US are Snapdragons and Qualcomm only guarantees driver support and updates for 2 years after release. That's another reason OEMs can't match Apples warranty for older devices. I have a Pixel XL and plan to get the next version after it's announced on October 5th. I liked my iPhones, but I can't past all the apps on my screen now and no app drawer partial OCD kicking in I guess. iPhone 8 should be a great device since it will be Amoled tech from Samsung, but reports say it is a really limited supply as in more limited than usual. The forecasted reports based on leaks from Foxconn is they can catch up to estimated demand by February. So they are releasing new iPhone 7 variants on the same day to appease people who don't want to wait for iPhone 8 because of a shortage. Last edited by Sinnakle; 09-06-2017 at 10:54 PM.. |

It is all what you are used to. I've had iPhones for years. Had a Samsung for work and it was such a pain in the ass to get used to. I use PCs all the time at work, and when someone has the occasional Macbook with a problem it is a huge pain to get adjusted to.
Mac's aren't bad machines but they don't integrate well with an all Windows environment.

I think the days of the physical headphone jack are numbered. Don't get me wrong, I would prefer to always have one. But you can't buck market trend just like the whole discussion about the disappearing manual transmission for cars.
I also hate Apple with a passion especially with their stupid iTunes ecosystem. I also just got an S8. Overall been pretty happy with it except for the blasted fragile screen. I just had the damn S8 in my pocket with my S5 work phone. I only had it like this walking from Lowes to the parking lot and it left permanent rub marks on the damn screen coating. Granted you can only see it with a totally black background and at certain lighting/angles but still. There are others online complaining about the same thing. I ordered a glass wet application screen protector and hope this will at least hide the rub marks. |

This is what I got off Amazon and I'm using a Tech21 case. So far no issues and works great.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWMZG5N Days of the headphone jack might be numbered, but I'll continue to support it as long as possible. Old technology works best with my old vehicles. Last edited by Axius; 09-07-2017 at 08:25 AM.. |

I am an Apple hater of the highest order, i absolutely loathe using their products and being forced to do things their way. However, no doubt the OS for smartphones is smoother than anything from Android, it just is.

That is what has kept me from upgrading my current iPhone. What a stupid idea.

Had an iPhone 6 Plus and went to a Note 7, hated the 7 and was glad they got recalled. Went back to a iPhone 7 Plus and couldn't be happier. I hated the Note 7, the software integration blows and the phone was laggy.
Also, I hate everyone without iMessage

iMessage is annoying attempt at lock in by Apple - and doesn't everyone use whatsapp now?
Will be interesting to see the new iPhone - my Pixel XL w/ Oreo is pretty good with a few annoyances. IOS does seem more stable and simplified, downside you have to live in the ecosystem. |
