It's a satellite dish on a rooftop, and I liked the colors and how the silhouette was in focus, not much to "get" really.

This is one I shot the next day, same location. Just for the forum since I know how much a crooked horizon makes you guys cringe...

hahaha thats exactly what i did, well trying to do.. i can't decide what the appropriate colors would be.. i'm kind of leaning to b&w but then it loses the "twilight" element..

It's a cool picture. Although now that the lights are gone, the horizon can be straightened, even if it really was tilted like that.

Do you live near that field? If so, try a shot a little later in the evening and point more towards the tree so you don't get the lights again. It'd be cool to see that field with the stars above it. Maybe on a night with a bright moon.

you are in my head.. the shot was taken a few minutes after the sun went doww so no stars around. it about 10 minutes from my house, i thought it would be good for my first star trail photo but i have to find the time.. the horizon is like this, i straightened it out now.. i will post the pic later, not finished

This was the scene out by my bird feeder just a few minutes ago. I boosted reds and blues and dropped the other colors to make the birds stand out. I think I have half the cardinal population of IL right here in my yard.

Mark, shoot that situation at +1 or even +2EV, then apply an S-curve to get more natural colors. If you push the reds, just do it a tiny bit.

I'll give that a shot. For this pic I was just trying to emphasize the bizarre number of cardinals I get in my yard. I have a ton of such shots, but it's not always as easy to see the birds in a pic as it is in real life.

Nice and healthy looking boy. Looks like his eyes are starting to show. Or are they still pretty clouded over at this point and the picture is just showing the pupil well?
