Jon Jones
Anyone else thinks he is getting a title shot too soon? He hasn't beat any top contenders but is getting a shot from his hype.
I mean the kid looks good but I guess well see this Saturday. I'm not convinced. What happened to 205? It used to be stacked with iceman, rampage, tito, etc. they all got old and ko'd except for rampage. BTW did you guys see A-team I thought he did a KILLER job acting that part! |

everyone's been saying he is the next big thing since Silva. We will see Saturday. Rashad got hurt, Machida lost, and Rampage did not want to fight shogun because it was not enough time to train. Really, who else is there?

Jon Jones is supremely confident, intelligent, and explosive. I give him a good chance to upset Shogun.

J JONES -200 M RUA +160 Jon Bones Jones is one bad mofo. Have been following and watching every fight since he entered the UFC and I'm definitely impressed. He was even pulverizing Matt Hamill before he was disqualified. |

its gonna be a good fight but this is def not too soon, Dana White has been slowly bringing him along. The guy gets better and better, he has a solid shot at winning this.
The reason he hasnt beating any of the top guys at 205, is because there arent really any top guys in 205. They all got old, and he dominated the only other young and up and coming 205er |

Jon goes out to finish people so I think Dana just wants to infuse some young blood into the title ranks. I mean, I really dont want to see another Rich Franklin-Forrest Griffin fight. Tito just needs to go ahead and retire like Chuck; however, he has to pay his porn-star GF so he needs the money. I dont want to see Randy lean on somebody for 3 rounds again.
Rampage and Rashad can still go, but Rampage is getting on the back end of his career. So Jon represents the new guard for UFC, and he is a bad dude! |

We'll definitely find out how good Jones is... He hasn't fought a top tier fighter yet like Evans, Rampage, Machida, Randy, or Shogun. He looks really good but you just can't know until he is matched against someone at his level or better.
It is like a guy who looks awesome in college football and then mediocre in the NFL. Shogun is definitely no joke. He will KO Jones if he makes even 1 mistake. I agree that they are giving him this fight a little early because if this goes badly it could really mess him up mentally. But maybe he can handle it. The only person who knows whether he is really ready is Jones.

Shogun will def be able to find his weaknesses, but thus far he hasnt had many exploited.
Honestly, I give the fight to Jones. As for the question.... nope! But I could be way wrong too!

Jones has been getting better and better with each fight. He's been climbing the ranks and I'm sure he'll perform. As for how he fairs against a top tier guy like Shogun, we'll know soon enough!

What I like about Jones is that he will try and go against the other guys strength to prove he is better. He outwrestled BAder just to prove a point and then submitted him. Bader is not top tier but he is a damn good wrestler. I cant wait to see what Jones is going to try and do against Shogun.

Jones has what it takes to be the LHW Champion and he has a bright future ahead of him. Shogun is the real deal though, it should make for an interesting fight. Shogun has a lot more experience and has fought bigger names but Jones is young, hungry and IMO undefeated so it's anyone's fight. Stylistically Jones is a bad match up for anyone though.

I agree that Shogun has faced tougher opponents. Jones' toughest fight to date was Bader and he put him away easily. Shogun will really push him but we've yet to see Jones struggle or look uncomfortable.

I'm going with Shogun on this.
Also, my buddy Anthony is fighting on the Spike prelim. Can't wait for this weekend.

I'm picking Bones in the title fight. Kid get's better and better each fight. That and his camp/coaches will have him ready for this fight.
Shogun hasn't impressed me yet in the UFC, hell he got subbed by Forrest. If the old Shogun showed up people would be scared but not sure that will happen. No way this shot is coming too soon, too soon was Brock Lesnar.

If Shogun is at 95% or better I think we are going to see Jones struggle quite a bit. Hell, we don't even know how Jones responds to being hit hardly. Let's see him eat a few solid hits and see how he does. Personally, I will have to be in the corner of Shogun since he dropped by our gym a few years ago and taught a great class (although at the time his English was even worse than it is now!)

i agree though, if he is close to 100%, this is gonna be a very close fight. I think it will come down to who makes a mistake first. I just dont think Shogun is ever gonna be the same though, hope im wrong, cause he was a monster in pride |
